Good morning-ish everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🌪️ Free Agency Frenzy

🏆 Big Rick Gets His Win

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Serious question here, did NBA Insiders Woj and Shams get any sleep this weekend? The answer: probably not.

NBA free agency officially opened on Friday, and to say it’s been a frenzy might even be an understatement. You never quite realize how much money is in the NBA until you see the contracts these guys get, but that’s besides the point. Snagged Sports is going to walk you through some of the major acquisitions in a nice and neat timeline format, and if we miss some, so be it. If we’re being honest with each other, it’s the big players and big contracts that you want to see, right?

🤯 The Shockers/Head-scratchers

  • Cam Johnson signed his four-year, $102 million dollar deal to stay in Brooklyn. That’s a lot of money for a role-playing, three-point sharp shooter, but I guess there’s been worse deals to be had.

  • Before you judge me, hear me out. Draymond Green signed his four-year, $100 million dollar contract to return to the Warriors, and there’s two sides to this. Rewarding loyalty and the play from the championship winning years is important, but has he really done much besides punch Jordan Poole and talk trash on his podcast in the past couple of months?

  • Bruce Brown, a key role player on the championship Nuggets, signed a two-year, $45 million deal to join the Indiana Pacers. To me, this is a massive overpay in my opinion, but getting one of the best backup point guards in the league has some value to it.

💰 Day of the Max

  • Lamelo Ball wins free agency. He signed his maximum contract of $260 million dollars. A quarter-billys, absolutely wild.

  • Tyrese Haliburton also wins free agency. The Pacers’ all-star also signed his max extension for five-years, $260 million.

  • Domantis Sabonis earned his money after helping the Kings to the playoffs for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth. He nabbed his five-year, $217 million contract to be their big man of the future.

  • Desmond Bane agreed to his five-year, $205 million, but is that something you really have to ‘agree’ on?

😴 Slow News Day (Finally)

  • The biggest acquisitions from yesterday were Jordan Clarkson’s three-year, $55 million extension with the Jazz, and Miles Bridges accepting his one-year qualifying offer from the Hornets. But if you’re interested, Eric Gordon is now a Phoenix Sun, Lonnie Walker is now a Brooklyn Net, and Patty Mills is now an OKC Thunder.

Who won and lost NBA Free Agency thus far is not up for me to decide, but if you want more info to decide for yourself, read through this tracker to stay in the know of every deal made thus far.

🎶 Reunited and it feels so goooooood 🎶

The above trio in Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo are back together again with the New York Knicks. This squad won a National Championship together back in 2018, and as wild as Knicks fans are, they’ll probably try to claim that for themselves now.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

Rickie Fowler, one of the PGA’s most well-loved golfers, has finally captured a victory after coming so close multiple times this season. After losing the 54-hole lead in the U.S. Open a couple weeks ago, and finishing in the top five a couple of times this season, he’s finally done it.

It took a playoff hole on the 18th to decide the tournament. Most people (including myself) thought he was dead in the water after his tee shot, but after an amazing second shot from the rough, Fowler drained the 20-footer to make the only birdie on the hole, beating out both Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin. Celebrating a win after not much celebrating at all for the better part of four years must be one heck of a feeling.

Friday’s Results

 Rays -140 vs. Mariners

❌ Blue Jays -145 vs. Red Sox

About last weekend…

It’s as simple as this; the Rays came through for us and the Jays did not. Going .500 is never a bad thing, so I will take them as they come.

Now, with football season fast approaching, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with what happened this offseason, and who the odds on favorites are to win the division, and the whole dang thing. Today, we’re starting off in what is most likely going to be the most competitive divisions in the NFL.

AFC East
Bills +120, Jets +250, Dolphins +300, Patriots +700

These divisional games will be very entertaining games. The Jets got a major upgrade at QB and still have the stellar, young defense that they had last year. The Dolphins acquired Jalen Ramsey in the offseason as well as gave Tua some rest for his brain, so they should be frisky. There is the obvious pick with the juggernaut Buffalo Bills, and I think they will prevail, but this is a division with more question marks than others. Having three teams all at +300 or better (and all sitting at plus money) is quite the tight spread of options. You can also never rule out Bill Belichick (but I will).

💵 Pick: Bills +120 or Dolphins +300
