NBA Draft Recap, Fit Check, and much more!

Good afternoon everyone! After letting the dust settle on all things NBA, here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the basketball, and the rest of the sports world, today:

🏀 NBA Draft Recap

👔 Fit Check

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Last night was a dream come true for many ballers who have dreamed of being a member of the NBA their whole lives. NBA commissioner Adam Silver called 58 names last night, and despite the pre-draft rumors of drama and movement among players and picks, it was a relatively uneventful night in that department.

Wemby Has Arrived

Victor Wembanyama was selected No. 1 overall to the San Antonio Spurs to the surprise of literally zero people. To show just how much of a favorite he was to go first overall, check out this bet slip of his selection.

The “best prospect since Lebron James” has made it known his ideal scenario has come true in joining the Spurs. He grew up idolizing former Spur and fellow Frenchman Tony Parker, and will now get a chance to grow the legacy and lore of the San Antonio franchise.

No Surprises

Like we mentioned, this year’s draft had no real shock factor to it as 28 of the 32 names called in the first round were all projected first-rounders before the draft started. You may say that that’s an awesome job from the NBA analysts and draft experts, but despite the planning, there’s never that much of a certainty when it comes to the Draft. But this year it was.

The top 10 went about as expected:

#2 Brandon Miller, Alabama

#3 Scoot Henderson, G League

#4 Amen Thompson, Overtime Elite

#5 Ausar Thompson, Overtime Elite

#6 Anthony Black, Arkansas

#7 Bilal Coulibaly, France

#8 Jarace Walker, Houston

#9 Taylor Hendricks, UCF

#10 Cason Wallace, Kentucky

Well, There Was One Surprise.

Projected lottery pick and Big East Freshman of the Year, Cam Whitmore, had a Will Levis-like slide in this year’s draft. Whitmore fell out of the first 14 picks, which cost him both some money, and some confidence amongst the teams within the NBA. He slid citing ‘medical concerns’ and ‘down levels of engagement during workouts and interviews’ for team workouts and when being evaluated during the NBA Combine. Nevertheless, he was drafted to the Houston Rockets No. 20 overall, and will be out to prove he deserved to be selected higher.

Fit Check

Snagged Sports Best Dressed Award goes to…….Gradey Dick!

The Kansas’ sharp shooter showed up looking, uh, sharp I guess? Whatever the intention, it was a bold statement, and ended up working out after being selected No. 13 overall to the Toronto Raptors. Honorable mentions goes out to Scoot Henderson who showed up with more than enough bling for every prospect in the green room.

Thursday’s Results:

❌ /   Rays -1.5 vs. Royals / O 7.5 runs

❌ Miami vs. Pirates U 7.5 runs

About last night...

First of all, I don’t want you to think that just because I’m taking a personal break from gambling that I’m just throwing out picks willy nilly. No no; I am still looking hard for what I see to be the best picks for the night. With that being said, the Rays blew it big time. The under was admittedly a bad pick but the Rays blew that -1.5 spread, and that’s on them.

⚾️ MLB: Twins vs. Tigers O 8.5 runs

Two of the worst pitchers in baseball will be going at it tonight. Both teams are 7-3 in their last 10 overs, and these starting pitchers have a combined ONE win and a 6.82 ERA. This should be a sprint, not a marathon.

⚾️ MLB: Orioles-115 vs. Mariners

I am once again asking you to bet the Orioles at home as favorites. They are amazing as home favorites, and Kyle Gibson is 8-4 with four of his wins coming on his home turf. Here I am again telling you, back the O’s.
