Heading into the Weekend
As we mentioned in yesterday's send, March is the month where sports come to thrive. There is a lot to watch this weekend, so here's a quick breakdown on what you should be paying attention to.
College Basketball
CBS Sports
College Basketball's regular season is coming to a close, and some conferences are already in the midst of their tournaments to see who will make it to the Big Dance.
3 Kansas and 7 Texas will take place to help shape the Big 12 for seeding. 9 Arizona will take on 4 UCLA where the Bruins will be looking to bump their way up to a potential 1 seed territory in the NCAA tourney. 2 Alabama will face the red hot 21 Texas A&M Aggies for bragging rights as they have already secured the top two seeds in the SEC tourney. 25 Pitt will take on 15 Miami to help clear the picture heading into the ACC tournament later next week.
And finally, as if all of that wasn't enough, the greatest rivalry in college basketball will take place down in Chapel Hill for Duke vs. UNC. Both teams came into the season with high hopes, but each will have to work their way through the ACC tournament to secure bids for the Big Dance.
College basketball fans, rejoice, and know that it is going to be a great weekend.
NBA
Anything college basketball can do, the NBA can do it better.
This weekend will see lots of action between top teams in the West, including current one and two seeds - Memphis vs. Denver. Tonight's game is sure to feature some fireworks with Ja on the hunt for a poster dunk (when is he not), and Jokic looking to further cement his chance at back-to-back-to-back MVP titles.
Once Sunday rolls around, we have a rematch of a heated Western Conference playoff series in the new look Mavericks vs. the new look Suns. KD and Kyrie are going to get to face off against each other for the first time since leaving Brooklyn, and things should be pretty amicable, right?
The Boston Celtics will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday from their previous loss against the New York Knicks, and I know Jayson Tatum is looking forward to this one after being tossed from the game with only 14 points.
Golf
SportBusiness
All eyes are on the PGA after significant format changes were announced for the 2024 season.
43 of the top 50 players in the world will be competing this weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational including current leader and world number one, Jon Rahm. Other big names in attendance are Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler. For those wondering, the cut is in play for this weekend's event.
Football
XFL.com
NFL Combine: Most of the NFL's top prospects will be stripped down to their measuables this weekend as the drills we are accustomed will take place this weekend in Indy.
XFL: The latest and greatest spring football league heads into its third week of the season this weekend as three teams look to stay undefeated with Vegas and Orlando looking to secure their first wins of the season.

Ravens' wide receiver Rashod Bateman had some choice words for his GM after some comments he made about Baltimore's wide receiver room at the NFL Combine.
Rashod Bateman sounds off 😳

Lots of players and fans came to the defense of Bateman, but going after your GM is not a good look, no matter how you spin it. The Ravens have been trying to sign their franchise QB, Lamar Jackson, for some time now, so surrounding him with talent is more important now than ever before if they want to keep him around. Regardless, Bateman hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do on the field with #8 due to injuries.
We will certainly get to see how all of this plays out, but for Bateman's sake, I hope the GM takes his words as constructive criticism and not grounds to reshape the receiver's room in Baltimore.
🤍 Wholesome Content 🤍
Following Liverpool's win mega fan Patrick Barden waited for the team to congratulate them on their efforts. Each player gave a tap on the shoulder or fist bump, but Casemiro was the first to embrace him as one of their own.
What I've learned through this section is that soccer is wholesome, and I'm here for it. You'll never walk alone, with Liverpool especially.

About last night...
Well well well, it looks like I'm 5-0 in my last 5 picks. I'm not even going to dissect the games (i didn’t watch them); I’m just going to bask in the fact that I sprinkled a third pick in there for you guys and even that hit as well. I’m big on focusing on your next bet and not the ones you have already placed, but damn this feels good.
🏀 NBA: Knicks -0.5 first half spread with Knicks -2 at +250
It's time for the parlays to come out of hiding, and what better way for it to make an appearance than on the hottest team in basketball? I’ve got Knicks fever, and the only way to cure it is to keep betting them.
Jalen Brunson is making Mr. Editor cry himself to sleep at night with how good he’s playing after leaving the Mavs. Josh Hart is a menace, Julius Randle is back to his All-Star level of play from two years ago, and Mitchell Robinson is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. Love it or hate it, sports are more fun when New York teams are good.
🏒 NHL: Winnipeg vs. Edmonton U 6.5
*Heath Ledger Joker voice* “this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets and immovable object.”
Winnipeg has the best under record in the NHL, and Edmonton has the best over record in the NHL. This is a coin flip for most that usually lands on the over because of McDavid factor. However, I love getting Winnipeg’s defense, especially coming off of 2.5 days rest.
As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.

The Mavs finally figured something out last night after Kyrie and Luka put up a combined 82 points on the 76ers. For my sake, and for my Dallas readers' sake, let's hope this kind of play is here to stay.
