Main Character: USA, USA, USA

In a win-or-go-home game, Team USA had the chance to continue their run in the World Baseball Classic against a, by all accounts, inferior Colombia team. It was a game that was closer than expected, but thanks to the heroic efforts of Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, and the six pitchers used throughout the game, Team USA advanced out of group play with a 3-2 win.

Speaking of Mike Trout, the U.S. does not move on in the tournament without him. Trout quite literally carried the team to victory going 3-4 with 3 RBI's including a 2-run single in the 5th inning to put Team USA for good.

If there was any doubt about there not being any leadership from the team, look no further than Mike Trout's performance last night to answer any questions doubters had coming in to the game.

Bad for Baseball?

The World Baseball Classic has had its fair share of criticism, especially after star Puerto Rican player Edwin Diaz, got hurt after celebrating with his team after their big win against the Dominican Republic. During the post-game press conference, both Mookie Betts and Mike Trout weighed in on the discussion and, I think, gave a perfectly executed answer on what it means to represent your country in a global tournament.

This opportunity is, for some, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and to criticize the event based on a freak accident that one player had is extremely unfair.

The Road Ahead

After a tumultuous Pool Play for Team USA, they will no travel to Miami to face off against a red hot Venezuelan team that went undefeated in their group. From here on out there are no easy games, but if any team is up for it, it's the U.S.

The former 4th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and perennial back for the Dallas Cowboys has to say goodbye after 7 seasons with the team. In a move that needed to be made, the Cowboys cut Ezekiel Elliott after the front office couldn't offer him what he wanted.

Elliott has been the feature back of the Cowboys ever since he burst on to the scene in his rookie season, but will likely have to take on a role he isn't used to with whichever team picks him up in free agency. It's been a great ride Zeke, and Cowboys fans everywhere applaud the grit and sacrifices you gave to the team. Peace out 2-1!

Wednesday's Results:

✅ Kings -115 vs. Bulls

❌ Nevada +2.5

About last night...

Nevada looked truly terrible last night, but too bad nobody cares because I had a Game of the Year (GOTY if you will). The Kings scared me by going down 16 in the first half, and then fouling on a three-pointer up 4 with 20 seconds left, but De’Aaron Fox has been the most clutch player in the NBA this year as he drained a three to go up with 0.7 left to win the game. I love him so much, and thanks to him, I am now 1-0 in GOTY's this year.

🏀 CBB: NCAA Tournament First Round Picks

To whom it may concern, games with writing are games I will be betting on, whereas games that do not have anything written on them will be games, or plays, that I just like. I don’t think that it's healthy, nor can I afford, to bet on every game, but I dream of a situation where I can do it in a healthy way that does not move me closer to Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It’s just fun to imagine having a pick for every game. These games will be in chronological order.

West Virginia vs Maryland: First Half U 63.5

System play: Early game under. Everyone knows the first game is always an under.

Furman vs Virginia: Furman +6

This is a pick for and from Mr. Editor. I am not a fan of the public dog that Furman has become, but this one is for the bossman, so this technically can’t count against my record.

Utah State vs Missouri: Utah State -1.5

Sharps are all over this line. I am entrusting the people who have done more research and watched more basketball than I have. Missouri is one of the luckiest teams in CBB and March is typically where luck tends to lose out. Utah State is an elite offense and has been improving defensively as the season has gone on.

Howard vs Kansas: Kansas 1H -11.5

Alabama vs Texas A&M Corpus Christi: Corpus +24.5

Charleston vs San Diego State: U 141.5

This has the potential to be a truly disgusting game, and I love it. These teams combine for 37-28 for unders on the year including SDSU being 9-1 in their last 10. I want to bet Charleston ML but I just can't do it.

Princeton vs Arizona: Over 154

Our first over of the tournament is a total over 150, and I'm ready for a shootout. Arizona is known for its prolific offense, and Princeton will also get its fair share of chances at the basket. I am going against all the sharps and trends here, so bet at your own risk. I want all the points.

Illinois vs Arkansas: Arkansas 1H ML -140

Auburn vs Iowa: Iowa +1.5

Oral Roberts vs Duke: Over 146

This game should be fun, and fun games deserve to go over. Duke’s offense has been rolling lately and ORU has a bad O/U record, but only because their totals are typically over 150. Should be plenty of points in this one.

Colgate vs Texas: over 150.5

Boise State vs Northwestern: Boise State +110

Northern Kentucky vs Houston: Houston 1H -10.5

Louisiana vs Tennesse: Louisiana +11.5

Put this down as my bet of the day. I will always fade Rick Barnes in March. Some guys just don’t win the big games, and that is ok. Rick Barnes is one of those guys. He is a career 19-32 ATS, and I'm even tempted to take Louisiana ML. There's just something about the name “Ragin' Cajuns” that gets me fired up.

Penn State vs Texas A&M: Penn State +3

UNC Asheville vs UCLA: UNCA +17.5 and 1H +10.5

This is my pick for big upset of the day, and it's for no other reason than the injuries that UCLA has sustained. I may die on this hill, but I truly believe UNCA has a chance in this game and will keep it close, especially in the first half.

As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

Aaron Rodgers finally spoke out about his intentions to play for the New York Jets, but not before putting the media on blast. The media though (Schefty) had his rebuttal locked and loaded.
