Main Character: College Basketball
The women's NCAA Tournament is all wrapped up, the men's Final Four was a doozy, and their championship is sure to bring the heat if it was anything like the rest of this weekend.
NCAAW Championship Winner Feature
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and I guess that includes championship storylines. LSU, a team that had never won an NCAA title in women's basketball, went on an incredible run with their new-ish legendary coach Kim Mulkey. On the other side was the University of Iowa who had maybe the best player in all of basketball at the moment in Caitlin Clark leading her team to the championship game.
Each team brought their A-game, but it was Mulkey's offensive plan and team execution that lead to an explosion of points from the Tigers. 102 of them to be exact. Caitlin Clark broke the record for most points in a single tournament run, but it wasn't enough to keep the Tigers from winning their first tournament ever.
Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, LSU's Angel Reese, was hyped en route to the final buzzer, and gave an emotional celebration towards Clark who had done so in the previous game.
"I don't take disrespect lightly."

I saw if you win a championship, everything is fair game. Talk your talk and walk your walk because you did the thing that tends to shut everyone up: win a national championship. Women's basketball got the respect they deserved, and next year, all eyes will be looking at Mulkey and the Tigers to see if they can go back-to-back.
SDSU At The Buzzer
On the men's side of the tournament, we finally had the one thing that had been lacking all tournament long: a buzzer beater.
If you haven't seen it by now, move out from under the rock you're living in and check out this beautiful shot that shook the sports world Saturday night *queue Titanic music*.
Lamont Butler Buzzer Beater x Titanic Music

Lamont Butler, mostly known for his defensive play and ability to make a shot every once in a while, did so in arguably the biggest moment if his life. San Diego State was down most of the game with Florida Atlantic making shot after shot, but it was the determination and will of SDSU that made them climb back into the game.
FAU's Alijah Martin, who put up 26 points with 7 rebounds, was their star of the game, and even had what would have been an amazing reverse layup that would have sealed the deal if it weren't for Butler's shot. Nothing comes close to watching a buzzer beater when it comes to March Madness, so to get one in the Final Four is special.
UConn Calms the Storm
UConn came into their game as the clear favorites not only to beat Miami, but win the whole dang thing. They showed us exactly why.
It is hard to put into words the dominant play that UConn displays on the floor, but every team they have played in this tournament has had no answers on how to stop them from scoring. Miami, who had gotten to the Final Four from their incredible shooting and highly efficient offensive play, was held to just 59 points on just 32% shooting from the field. Captain Isaiah Wong of Miami did his best to hold UConn's stud center, Adama Sonogo down, but it was no match as he put up 21 points with 2 made threes and 10 rebounds, 4 of them coming on offense.
UConn's head coach Dan Hurley has done an amazing job with his group of guys, and has surrounded his big man with shooters like Jordan Hawkins, and a plethora of other role players who can be the ones to step up on any given night. This team has essentially cruised to a championship matchup against the Aztecs, and they showed exactly why they belong on Saturday night.
A Championship Preview
According to all the media experts (including me), it's the Huskies championship to lose.
Nobody expected the Mountain West champs to be in the position they're in. It will be San Diego State's first championship appearance in school history, and would be the first team in tournament history to win it all in their first appearance in the Final Four and National Championship.
As for UConn, the Huskies are moving into true blue blood territory. They will be going for their fifth championship since 1985 which would tie the college basketball grandaddy of them all, Duke. Hurley has brought the program back to winning ways, and would solidify himself as the coach of the future with a win tonight.
My prediction - a closer than expected game, but ultimately, UConn wins their 5th title on a great shooting performance from Jordan Hawkins. The score? Let's go with 80-71.
This tournament has brought us incredible moments and holds a special place in sports fan's hearts, so let's enjoy that last little bit we have and soak in the last of the shining moments of March Madness while we can.

Who doesn't love a good ol' April Fools prank? The sports world did their best to fool the internet, but I'll let you be the judge at how well each of these stunts were pulled off.
The overwhelming favorite to go #1 in this year's NBA Draft gave owners and fans across the league a scare with this one.

The Steelers announced the newest member of its squad, and unlike many April Fool's pranks, we wish this one was real.
We have agreed to terms with WR Calvin Broadus Jr.

The XFL's Battlehawks triggered every St. Louis football fan with this one. This one, in our opinion, was just plain cruel.

Each year when April 1st rolls around, you better be ready for teams and players alike to try and pull a fast one. We just hope none of you fell for something too diabolical this year.

This reaction out of the fans from SDSU's buzzer beater while attending a Padres game is priceless. There's nothing like seeing a city rally around their hometown team.

Friday's Results
✅ Stars -1.5 vs. Coyotes & O 6 goals
✅ Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers U 7.5 runs
About last week...
It always feels good to end the week on a high note. The Stars did exactly as I expected and whooped up on the Coyotes in a convincing win. As for the D'backs, it might be my season long pick for them to go under. They are not a good team. This week is a BIG week for ol' Covers, with meaningful matchups in all the sports, so buckle in and get ready to make some mulah baby.
🏀 CBB: UConn -7.5 vs SDSU
I am officially doubling down on my 25-1 UConn future. They have smashed every team they have played in the tourney thus far, and SDSU is not going to be the team that stops that trend. It's Huskies or bust.
⚾️ MLB: Yankees -170 vs Phillies
The Phillies have started on the road back to back early in the season, and they are already dealing with injuries to start the year. The Yankees are the better team and should be able to handle the Phillies at home no problem.
⚾️ MLB: Rangers -135 & O 8.5 runs vs. Orioles; Parlay for +240
Dare I say shades of 2011 are coming out with how the Rangers have looked in their opening series. The Rangers are 2-1 in overs this season so far, and the Orioles are 3-0. Texas is the better team but has already shown that they will give up a few runs here and there. Rangers should win this 6-4 and we get to cash out our beautiful parlay.
As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

Peanut butter and jelly. Spongebob and Patrick. Tiger Woods and the Masters.
The perfect duo is back for the week as we head into the greatest tournament in all of golf. We shouldn't expect much from Tiger at this point, but there's something about this week that stirs up unexplainable hope for the 5-time Masters champion.
