Money Moves, Swaggy de la Cruz, and much more!

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🐴 Money Moves

🔴 Swaggy de la Cruz

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

The Dallas Mavericks were on a mission yesterday to bolster up a roster worth contending for a title. After last season’s melt down, GM Nico Harrison and Owner Mark Cuban seem determined they do all they can to keep that from happening again.

The biggest news out of the Dallas Mavericks’ camp was the signing of Grant Williams to a four-year, $53 million dollar deal. In the three team trade, the Celtics get multiple second round picks in return, and the Spurs will receive Reggie Bullock and an unprotected 2030 pick. Dallas desperately needed some defensive-minded, bully-ball type players after trading away some of those guys last season for Mr. Irving, and they got that in Williams.

Later in the evening, Harrison and Cuban were at it again, and extended an offer sheet to one Matisse Thybulle for a three-year contract in the $33 million dollar range. The Trail Blazers do have a chance to match the offer, but all signs indicate he will pack his bags and head south.

The Mavs are putting together a contender, and so far, everything they’ve done this offseason seems to be what the front office had hoped to accomplish.

There’s no better feeling as a young kid than finally beating your dad in something, and both of these kids showed their pops what they can do.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

Baseball’s ‘next up’ is thriving in Cincinnati and after a mishap with the umps checking to see if Elly de la Cruz was using an illegal bat, he clearly wanted them to check again. This guy can do it all; he has blazing speed, great power, and the swagger to back it all up.

Congratulations Cincinnati, the Reds are fun again.

💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner

With football season fast approaching, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with what happened this offseason, and who the odds on favorites are to win the division, and the whole dang thing.

Today, we’re looking through a division that has been mostly one-sided for quite some time now.

AFC West
Chiefs -175, Chargers +300, Broncos +500, Raiders +1200

The last time the Chiefs didn’t win this division, I was unable to buy tobacco, alcohol, or rent a car. Now I can do all three simultaneously while betting the Chiefs to win this division.

The Chargers are the single most frustrating team in the league. They have so much going for them, but they always seem to fall short of winning this division. I will allow the Broncos to fool me if Russ does decide to turn it around because that is, historically, the better side of history to be on. The Raiders are simply disgusting, and I will be fading them all year long. Keep it simple here and go with the reigning Super Bowl champs.

💵 Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -175
