Something is in the water in South Florida because their sports franchises are doing things that should not be possible. The Florida Panthers, for the first time in 27 years, are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals after sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes. They finished the job at home, making it all the sweeter.

The game-winning goal was as close as you can get to a buzzer beater in hockey, and this team (much like the Miami Heat) seem destined for the Cup since the series started. They have gone 11-1 in their last 12 playoff games and have beat the 1, 2 and 3 seeds en route to a Finals appearance. If that doesn’t scream destiny, I don’t know what else does.

The Panthers will await their opponent in the Golden Knight/Stars series, but with Vegas up 3-0, the Finals are all but set. Warm weather hockey towns, stand up!

Enough of the chit chat, let’s get right into the picks. Today is the day we make something happen.

⚾️ MLB: Rays F5, ML, -1.5, and to score first vs. Blue Jays

I call this the Ornithophobia Game of the Spring. Spring has sprung and the birds are back, and as they say, don’t mess with the Rays. Alex Manoah has been atrocious this year, and the Rays are going to be hitting off of him like it’s T-ball. I’m all in on the Rays baby.

⚾️ MLB: Marlins vs. Rockies NRFI

The Miami Marlins lead the league in NRFI, and the Rockies are tied for 18th. These teams have scored in the first inning in the first three games of this series. I’m going to count on the positive regression.

🏀 NBA: Heat +8 vs. Celtics

I get this big spread, but at the same time, have we not seen what Jimmy Butler and the Heat have been able to do all postseason? They continue to at least keep games close and fight to the end, if not win, games. I think the Celtics will win this game and jump on them early, but the Heat will come back and keep it close.
