State of the RB's
No Love, Generational Talent, and much more!
Good morning everyone! For a weekend in the middle of July, it was quite the noteworthy couple of days.
Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:
💔 No Love
⚾️ Generational Talent
🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.
👑 Main Character
The NFL’s running backs have been put on the back burner when it comes to getting their money.
Saquon Barkley, arguably the Giants’ best player, has decided to hold out of training camp until his new deal is set. With the deadline to make a deal happen passing yesterday at 4:00pm EST, it made it official that the last $10M+ deal made for a running back before the deadline was two whole years ago after the extension of the Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb.
ESPN Draft Analyst Matt Miller set the NFL world on fire with his thoughts yesterday regarding the new way running backs are treated in the current football climate:
Been saying it for years:
1. Draft a RB
2. Play the RB…if he's good…
3. Franchise tag the RB ONE TIME
…and then…
1. Draft a RB…

He got more than a little backlash from that tweet from current backs across the league…

It’s hard to imagine how some of the best talents in the league get minimally paid (in the scope of NFL salaries), but ‘tis the case. What Miller said has been true as of the last two years, and we’re seeing it now with Barkley, the Cowboys’ Tony Pollard, and the LA Chargers’ Austin Ekeler.
Hopefully we see a correction in the market for some of the most valuable players on their respective teams, but with franchises becoming so hesitant to give so much money to a position that has such a short window of greatness, it’s hard to see that any change will come any time soon.
Snagged Sports stands with the running backs because without ‘em, an offense goes no where. Good luck boys!

Nothing more wholesome than seeing a team celebrate a walk-off. The Rangers’ Josh Smith scored on a wild pitch to win the game for his squad in the bottom of the ninth, and this team is heating back up against some of the best teams in baseball.

The fact we get to see Shohei Ohtani play day in and day out is something we should not be taking for granted. He blasted this game-tying two run moon shot to help the Angels eventually take the game from the Yanks in extras.
Additionally, Swaggy Shohei is the best Shohei.
💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner
Now that you know where Snagged Sports stands in regards to divisional standings and which teams we’re backing, it’s time to break it down even further.
It’s simple: over or under.
Mr. Covers has chosen his a final team of the win total series, and yet again, accurately predicted their win total on the year. Let’s dive into the final team that is coming off of a Super Bowl win.
Kansas City Chiefs
Over/Under 11.5 wins
Patrick Mahomes has never won less than 11 games in a season, and the Chiefs as a team have won 12 or more games in four of his five seasons.
Yes, they do play the Dolphins, Eagles, Bills, and Bengals, BUT all three of those games will be played at Arrowhead where Mahomes is 31-7 in his career. The Chiefs bring in a new OC, but having the same elite quarterback making the throws and is all that matters.
This isn’t a bet, it’s a high yield savings account.
💵 Pick: Over 11.5 wins
