All The Stars

Sea Worthy, Back On Top, and much more!

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🌊 Sea Worthy

⛳️ Back On Top

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

The MLB All-Stars have officially been set, and if you would have told any baseball fan that the Texas Rangers would lead the MLB in number of players starting in this year’s All-Star game, they would have laughed straight in your face.

Of course, there will be alternates and back-ups that will eventually make the roster, but above is the list of starters who will make their way to Seattle for both National League and American League teams. While there may be some familiar names you see up there, there are a couple of cool wrinkles that makes this year’s cast special:

  • OF Corbin Carroll and C Jonah Heim are the first rookie duo to start in an All-Star game since 2008.

  • The Rangers set a franchise record for number of All-Stars in one season (4) topping the 2012 year when they sent three (Hamilton, Napoli, Young).

  • Only nine teams are represented by starters this year with the Rangers, Braves, Rays, Dodgers, and Angels all sending multiple players.

Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuña Jr. were the players who received the most votes out of the bunch, and the fans certainly nailed that one right on the head. The All-Star festivities start July 7th with the HBCU Swingman Classic, followed by the infamous Home Run Derby on July 10th and the MLB All-Star Game on July 11th. Be ready for fireworks.

🥺 Wholesome Content

Last night’s ‘The Match’ featured two teams of players at the top of their sport. The Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce faced off against the Warriors’ Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. The match sealing putt was holed by Kelce and yet another win for the most dominant duo in football was added to their resumes.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

It looks like James Harden is going to be the next big name hogging the NBA offseason spotlight. After picking up his team option, the reportedly ‘unhappy’ Harden is hoping to work a deal to be traded to the Knicks or Clippers. It truly seems like NBA players are never happy and always looking for drama, but luckily for us, it’s the sport that keeps on giving even after the season ends.

Thursday’s Results

 Rangers -1.5 vs. Detroit

✅ / ❌ White Sox vs. Angels O 9 runs / Angels -130

About last night…

It was rest versus rust for ole Covers, and it wasn’t a close matchup. The Rangers’ bats were connecting, but they couldn’t get enough runs across the plate. Also, I saw Jon Gray was supposed to start but then got moved to tonight’s game against the Astros therefore I can’t be held liable (I might have misread it).

⚾️ MLB: Rays -140 vs. Mariners

The Rays are the better team, especially with the better (Cy Young) pitcher. Even on the road I won’t be overthinking this one. I don’t mind the Rays at -1.5 or NRFI in this one either.

⚾️ MLB: Blue Jays -145 vs. Red Sox

It’s a system play in the making here as the Red Sox took all four games at home the last time these two met. Toronto is at home this time and the Red Sox are in the midst of a slump.
