Sneaky Peek

+ two spring football leagues are in talks of a merge

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the world of football today:

🏈 Peeking Ahead
🥹 Wholesome Wednesday
🚀 ...and much more!

Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Both college and NFL football seasons are only a few weeks in, but that won’t stop us from looking wayyyyy ahead at two of the sports’ most coveted awards and favorite bets of the season: NFL MVP and Heisman trophy frontrunners.

Before you get all riled up, both of these awards are typically quarterback-driven, so prepare yourselves to see a whole bunch of QBs on this list. We’ll even include a few non quarterbacks to keep it a little more even of a playing field.

⭐️ Current NFL MVP Odds

+600 QB Tua Tagovailoa

+700 QB Patrick Mahomes

+800 QB Josh Allen

+850 QB Jalen Hurts

+1200 QB Lamar Jackson

+1500 QB Dak Prescott

Yes, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has the highest odds of any player after two weeks of NFL action to win the MVP award. He leads the league in passing yards, yards per attempt, completions over 20 yards and most importantly, has led Miami to a 2-0 start this season.

The rest of the names are guys you would expect to see, even in the preseason. Mahomes is by no means out of it, because after all, he is still Patty Mathrowmes. Allen is still a special talent, Lamar has won it before, and Dak might be in the best situation of them all to capitalize on the talent around him.

🌶️ Spicy Non-QB NFL MVP Picks

+5000 WR Tyreek Hill

+5000 DE Micah Parsons

Tua’s favorite target this year is getting some NFL MVP love, but at +5000, you might as well place some money on yourself winning. Cowboys’ defensive player Micah Parsons has received a majority of NFL MVP bets (58%) since the end of Week 2

🏃‍♂️ Current Heisman Frontrunners

+350 QB Caleb Williams

+550 QB Michael Penix Jr.

+600 QB Quinn Ewers

+900 QB Sam Hartman

+1100 QB Jordan Travis

+1800 QB Shedeur Sanders

The Heisman can be a bit more unpredictable than the steady NFL MVP race, but through three weeks of college football, it’s looking like last year’s winner is on pace to go back-to-back.

Caleb Williams is having the hottest of starts this college football season. He has 878 passing yards so far (many games he has not finished), 12 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and has the highest QB rating of anyone in DI football. Washington’s Penix Jr. and Texas’ Ewers are primed to take the lead with any slip up from Williams as each have impressed so far with big wins and big arms.

By no means are Hartman, Travis, and Sanders out of the race, but I would be lying to say it would be a surprise to see any of the three of them hoist the trophy in NYC this season.

🌶️ Spicy Non-QB Heisman Picks

+3500 WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

+6000 RB Blake Corum

Alabama’s Devonta Smith was the last non-QB to win the Heisman, and while that was just two years ago, this year seems primed for another quarterback winner. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. is a freak athlete with insane potential as a pro, but he’s going to have to put up massive numbers to even keep up with the QBs. Michigan’s Corum is in the exact same position.

🗞️ In Other News…

It’s being reported that Browns running back Nick Chubb, after his gruesome injury sustained on MNF, might require two surgeries to repair the damage in his knee. In 2015, when Chubb was at Georgia, he sustained a similar injury after dislocating his knee and tearing his MCL, PCL and LCL. Genuinely hope to see this guy back out on a football field again some day.

Coach Prime said in a recent video that none of his sons, despite their recent success, are ready to make the jump into the NFL. Both Shilo and Shedeur would be eligible to enter into the 2024 NFL Draft, but I’m sure Buffs fans would love to see them stick around for another year or two.

In an absolutely tragic story, following an altercation at the Patriots vs. Dolphins game, Patriots fan Dale Moony got into a fight and died due the injuries he sustained. The 30-year old father of two was at the game with his son when the fight broke out. Be smart and be safe when going to sporting events, nothing is ever that serious in the NFL.

🥹 Wholesome Wednesday

2021 NFL Hard Knocks star and son of Trevon Diggs, Aaiden Diggs, is here to tell the world that the Dallas is for real. It’s hard to not like this kid, even if you are one of the many Cowboys haters out in there.

💰 Mr. Covers’ Corner

🟡 Niners -10.5 vs Giants

🟡 Colorado vs. Oregon Over 71.5 total points

Wednesday’s Picks

🏈 NFL: Titans vs. Browns Under 39.5 total points

This week is disgusting, gross, and downright sick (outside of a few games). Most games scoreboards are either going to read 13-7 or 52-49, no in-between. This game will look like the former.

Ryan Tannehill played an actual good game last week, but I’m not sure how many good games he has left. With Nick Chubb out for the season, the pressure is much heavier on Deshaun Watson (disavow), and I don't think he has it in him to lead this team against a very solid Tennessee defense. Speaking of defense, Cleveland also has a very good defense.

This one should be disgusting.

🏈 CFB: Bills -6.5 vs. Commanders

More than likely, your book has this at -6.5, but Action Network shows that PointsBet is giving the Bills out at -6. I did buy the extra half-point because I am a scared little boy who likes to make sure I cover (I didn't get my name for nothing) ((I made it up myself out of thin air)).

This is a pretty classic letdown spot as the Commanders are coming off an emotional Week 1 win and then a Week 2 comeback on the road. The Commanders won by less than a touchdown against the Broncos and the Cardinals; I am not impressed just yet. If the Bills had played halfway decent against the Jets, then this number would be closer to 8 or even 8.5, but we are getting a blessing from the books here.

Do not be afraid to take the preseason favorites, even on the road.

🎒CFB season record: 6-9-0

⭐️ NFL season record: 12-4-1
