Main Character: The Free Market
One of the best players in Blackhawks history, an ultimate failure in the NY Giants, and two solid pieces on NFL rosters were on the (expected) move yesterday. Some teams won with their releases, others will be scrambling to find new talent to fill in the holes these players left behind. Either way, star players in new jerseys are always tough to get used to, so you better prepare yourself now.
Patrick Kane Finds a New Home
Everyone knew that Kane was going to be dealt somewhere before the trade deadline hit, but no one quite knew when or how it was going to happen. Bring in Tuesday morning, where the NY Rangers traded Kane for with some cap gymnastics, two draft picks, and a minor leaguer to help fill out an already solid roster.
One of those picks is a second-round pick to Chicago, but can turn into a first if NYR makes it to the conference finals. To get a player of the caliber like Patrick Kane, it shouldn't matter what each pick could turn into, but it's a fun wrinkle to watch out for to see how the future of the NHL could be shaped following this trade.
Kenny Golladay to be released

A failure of a signing doesn't really encapsulate just how bad this deal was for the Giants.
In the end, the Giants will have paid Kenny Golladay $36M for a total of 43 catches and 1 touchdown.

To break it down for you, that's $837,000 per reception and $59,800 per yard he gained in his two years in New York. Golladay is set to hit free agency once it becomes an option on March 15th. Is the talent still there? Is it an attitude problem? No one really knows, but if I worked in an NFL front office, I wouldn't touch him with a 20-foot pole.
More New Adventures
The Falcons' starting quarterback and former Heisman winner, Marcus Mariota, was released yesterday from his third team in four years. He will most likely pursue a backup role, but he showed last season he can still make plays and be a suitable fill in QB.
Bucs' running back Leonard Fournette, a.k.a. Playoff Lenny, will be out on the open market on March 15th as well after he asked to be released from the team due to contract disputes. The 28 year-old still has some juice left in the tank, and if I had to guess, will try to sign with a win-now team in pursuit of another Super Bowl ring.

This is scout season, which means the coaches are mostly off the hook for some of the main responsibilities of Combine week. Just look at how happy Chiefs' HC Andy Reid looks - not a care in the world.
As for the prospective players, this week is what can drive up draft stock, or send it plummeting if you don't meet expectations of those that are measuring them. Each player has trained their whole lives for this, so you could say it's a big weekend for a lot of these guys. Good luck boys!

It's been almost a decade since the viral 'Harlem Shake' dance swept the nation, but who could forget this video the Heat put out exactly 9 years ago today.
Man, it was a simple times...
💰 The Cover Corner 💰
Tuesday's Results:
✅ Coyotes -170 vs. Blackhawks
✅ Wild vs. Islanders U 5.5
About last night...
It has never been more clear that I have dyslexia. 0-2 Monday turned into a 2-0 Tuesday. Snip snap snip snap. The Islanders and Wild o/u could’ve been set at 3.5 and I would’ve still seriously considered it. To say I was never worried is an understatement. The ‘Yotes were also never in doubt. Coming in with no Patrick Kane, on short rest, it was too easy. Simple picks = simple wins, but hey, you’re only as good as your next pick.
🏀 NBA: NY Knicks first half -3.5 vs Brooklyn
The Knicks first half spreads have been printing money this season, and I presume this red hot squad will keep it up with their nearly 70% hit rate. I’ve got Knicks fever and hopefully they're feelin' it too.
🏀 CBB: Providence -165 ML vs. Xavier
I love me a good Providence system play. The Friars are 15-0 at home this year, and I don't see that streak being broken against a struggling Xavier team. I’ll bet them to win their last two home games with full confidence. Give me Providence.
Bonus Picks
I will also be taking Providence -3.5, first half ML and first half spread at -1.5. I’m all in on the Friars today, and you should be too.
As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.

Oof, not an ideal way to kick off the season for the LIV Tour.
🤔 What-If Wednesday 🤔
The Dallas Mavericks have to be the most confusing team in basketball. The Mavs are now 1-4 with both Luka and Kyrie on the floor, and their only win was against a team that is literally trying to lose. What if...
💥 Mavs miss the playoffs. This is a disaster scenario for the Dallas front office. After investing so much in Kyrie and Christian Wood, it's likely they would start from scratch and rebuild the team around Doncic.
😮💨 Mavs make the playoffs. This option was a foregone conclusion after the signing of Kyrie, so the fact that it isn't a guarantee is quite concerning. A deep sigh of relief from Mark Cuban will be had, but if they squeak into the playoffs or even make a first-round exit, the season will have been considered a failure.
🏆 Mavs win the NBA Championship. It wouldn't quite top the 2011 championship run, but it would make for quite the story. This team has the star power and bench depth to make some noise in the playoffs, but this team is going to have to start playing some defense and building some chemistry fast for this to be even be a possibility.
