Rockies' Man

Today, we take you through an All-Star game to remember + Mr. Covers final divisional pick

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🔵 A Night To Remember

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Nine years is a long time, and that’s how much time has passed since the National League had won an All-Star game. Last night, they finally broke the streak.

In my humble opinion, every All-Star game should run like the MLB’s. It was one of the more fun All-Star events I have seen put on by any professional league in a while. Everyone, from the players, to the coaches, and of course the fans, genuinely seemed like they were having a great time.

Pitching usually seems to dominate the night, as you would expect with only the best of the best on the mound, but Colorado Rockies’ catcher, and eventual ASG MVP, Elias Diaz, played the role of superhero at the plate in his first-ever ASG at-bat after hitting a two-run homer to give the lead to the NL in the top of the eighth inning.

After an intense ninth-inning that saw the American League strand two potential game-winning runners on base, it was time to celebrate for the side that hadn’t seen victory in nearly a decade. Want to know how long it’s been? Check out this ASG lineup from the year 2012:

Such a great group of names - many of which you probably haven’t heard/thought about in many many years. Now, baseball gets a much deserved break before resuming the regular season on Friday.

🥺 Wholesome Content

Whether this video instills a wholesome reaction or a deep dark all-too-familiar rage for you is not up to me. On the bright side, this kid has all the time in the world to figure out this whole ‘golf’ thing.

If you haven’t seen any of @nba_paint ‘s logo redesign projects that are sweeping the NBA world right now, stop what you’re doing and go catch up. You can even pay top dollar for some of his most glorious designs on his website (not a paid ad, just a cool guy).

💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner

With football season fast approaching, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with what happened this offseason, and who the odds on favorites are to win the division, and the whole dang thing.

Today, we’re looking through the last division left that we haven’t covered, and it’s an easy one to dissect.

NFC West
Niners -225, Seahawks +250, Rams +600, Cardinals +2200

This should be the most runaway division in football by a mile.

Even with the questions surrounding the 49ers at the quarterback position and their recent bad luck with injuries, there is no reason to back any other team. They are one of the most loaded teams in the NFL, and should have no problems at all.

I will be tailing the Seahawks game to game, and I believe their defense will keep them in games. However, one solid year from the defense and Geno Smith is not enough for me to think they can overthrow San Fran.

The Rams are one of the weirder teams to me in the NFL. They have traded and/or released plenty of their core from their Super Bowl run, but they still have a bevy of talent surrounding Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay.

Lastly, about the Cardinals. Technically, they are a football team, not a good one by any stretch of the imagination, but they are a professional football team.

Don’t try and hot dog this one.

💵 Pick: San Francisco 49ers -225
