Main Character: Rahm's Green Jacket

It was the best of times, it was the worst of conditions, but the 87th Masters was one for the ages. In the end, the Spaniard, Jon Rahm, stood alone at the top of the leaderboard, and on top of the golf world.

He Did It All

@PGATour

Rahm entered Sunday's resumed session of the third round four shots back from leader, Brooks Koepka. But after some tumultuous play by Koepka, the fourth round, which started much later than usual, was a very gettable two stroke lead.

Rahm clearly had his A-game this weekend, and it was very clear that he was en route of his first green jacket once that fourth round was off and going. It wasn't anything too special, but the consistency and the calmness when playing in the final round at the Masters with all the pressure on you to perform was by far the most impressive part.

He finished with scores of 65, 69, 73, 69 to win the Masters by 4 strokes.

Did you have any doubts of this guy winning this tournament? To be the best, you have to start by thinking you can be the best, and this is enough evidence to say that this guy has thought he's been the best for a while.

Rahm gets to take home the largest prize in Masters history, earning $3.2 million dollars for his efforts this weekend. His total earnings on the season are well above $13 million, and there's still a lot of PGA season left. Rahm is having a historic run, one reminiscent of Scheffler's last year, but Rahm is on the hunt for more, and has the game to go win another major or two if he wants later this year

Special Shoutout

(-8) Phil Mickelson & (-7) Jordan Spieth. This group paired together for Sunday's final round, and boy did they play some lights out golf. Finishing T-2 and T-4 respectively, they shot a combined -13 on the day with just 4 total bogeys. Here we thought moving day was supposed to be Saturday...

(-5) Sahith Theegala. Have a Sunday Sahith. In his first year at the Masters, Theegala put together quite the memorable final round after shooting a 67 to end his tournament. There must be something about playing with nothing to lose, because this guy stepped it up coming into the day even par. He also did his best Tiger impersonation with an incredible chip in on the 16th the sent the crowd into a frenzy.

The roar of a golf course on the final round can't be beat. After a finish for solo 9th, Theegala earned himself automatic exemption to next year's tournament. Not bad for a rook.

You May Not Have Seen THIS 👀

Now here's something you don't see every day...

The Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts (Reds affiliate) faced off against the Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels affiliate) for the first game of a double-header this past weekend. As all double-headers go in the minor leagues, games are played until the 7th inning. It began like every other game with the Trash Pandas leading 3-0 headed into the top of the last inning. The top of said inning went something like this:

  • Walk

  • Walk

  • Out 1 (Pop out)

  • Walk

  • Out 2 (Strikeout)

  • Walk

  • Error

  • Hit by pitch

  • Hit by pitch

  • Hit by pitch

  • Walk

  • Wild pitch

  • Hit by pitch

  • Out 3 (Strikeout)

In the midst of all that chaos, the Lookouts scored 7 runs and closed out the bottom half of the inning to win a game despite being no-hit. Is this the greatest feat of all time, or is it the saddest display of baseball you've ever seen? I'll let the readers be the judge of that one.

🤍 Wholesome Content 🤍

Who doesn't love a cute kid in some oversized clothes? This one is a bit different, as Odell Beckham Jr. finally decided on a spot to land in the Baltimore Ravens. The prolific wide receiver is reported to sign a 1-year, $18 million dollar deal to become the Ravens' No. 1 option at the wideout position. This is most certainly a ploy to get Lamar to come back to the team, and we'll find out in due time if it's enough to get him to stay.

Until then, we'll just enjoy this incredible pic of lil' Zydn Beckham and not think about the stress and turmoil that the Ravens front office is going through.

Friday's Results

❌ Guardians Pitcher Aaron Civale over 5.5 K’s (+105)

❌ Chicago 1Q +2.5 vs. Dallas

❌ Carolina ML @ Buffalo & Carolina regulation win

About last night...

Hopefully you got the Bulls early, I was able to grab them at +4. Counts as a win for my wallet, but unfortunately, not for those who rode with me here. Aaron Civale, that sweet sweet man. I believe in him, and I will not be told otherwise. He finished with 5 K’s on the night, and all I can say is what a line. Lastly, the Hurricanes, they had it, it was right there. The thing that scares me with the Hurricanes is their goaltending inconsistency. It was a tough board for me on Friday, so I give myself grace for the tough outing. (Please also have grace)

🏒 NHL: Stars -185 @ Red Wings / Over 6

B.A.B - Boys Are Buzzing. The Stars are playing great right now, even beating the Western Conference 1 seed this past Saturday. The Wings have given up 5 or more goals in 7 of their last 8 games and the Stars offense is starting to heat up. I think the Stars beat the Wings in a real clowning and win 6-2. Maybe a Miro Heiskanen goal too...?

🏒 NHL: Coyotes +1.5 vs Kraken

Arizona has gone from a clown show of a franchise to a very frisky team this year. They are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 and 23-16 at home on the season ATS. The Coyotes are just so good at losing games by 1, it's impressive at this point. I am not sure if it will be 5-4 or 1-0, but trust me when I say it will be a one goal game.

🏒 NHL: Islanders -160 @ Washington

Man, have the Capitals looked like they’ve been playing with their pants around their skates the last month. The Caps have lost 6 straight and the Islanders won their most recent battle a few weeks ago. This hits especially if Illya Sorokin is in goal for the Islanders. Sprinkle a little on Bo Horvat over 0.5 points at well at -135, you won't regret it.

As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

If there's one thing you can count on, it's Draymond Green getting in the last word.

Remember the whole Jordan Poole vs. Draymond situation from NBA summer camps when Green knocked the life out of his teammate? Well, the above response was the exact quote sent by Jazz center Rudy Gobert via Twitter.com.

Fast forward to this weekend when Gobert had to be separated from the team after getting into a physical altercation with a fellow teammate. The behavior by both of these grown men is inexcusable, but I must say that Green is an all-time receipt keeper; he knows just the right time to bring them out.

☝️ Snagged's Top Play ☝️

You thought the madness was over? There were a ton of plays that could have received the coveted Snagged Top Play from this weekend, but scoring an overtime goal to win your team a National Championship has to be one of the best feelings you could ever have. Congrats to Jacob Quillan and the Quinnipiac Bobcats!
