Main Character: College Basketball 🏀
We are starting to see which teams are for real and which teams are for fake as the college basketball regular season comes to a close. Conference tournaments are just around the corner, and games matter more than ever now with team's seeding at stake. Let's get into a wild night from the college basketball world.
Kansas St. upsets the Bears
The ever present Baylor Bears rolled into Manhattan (Kansas of course) looking to try and catch KU for the #1 spot in the Big 12, but it was the Wildcats that had visions of their own at a top seed.
In a convincing 75-65 win, Kansas State notched another win in their belts with Keyontae Johnson's 25 points and a huge second half 18-4 run to create the separation they needed to close out the game. Watch out for KSU come tournament time, because it seems like this team can compete with anyone in the nation.
Unranked Sparty knocks off Indiana
MSU Athletics
In an emotional return to East Lansing after the mass shooting that occurred on campus just last week, the Spartans came together to knock off the No. 17 ranked Hoosiers.
In a convincing win, Michigan State's Tyson Walker put up a game-leading 23 points going 5-7 from three-point land. This win turns the Big 10 into a conference where truly anyone can win with half of its teams sitting at a 9-7 conference record. Izzo is known for putting together solid tournament teams when it counts, so should we expect anything different this time around?
Texas A&M is getting HOT
The Aggies have been the surprise team out of the SEC boasting a 13-2 conference record and sitting only a half game back of the Crimson Tide.
In a close one to the finish, free throws are what secured them the win knocking down 6-6 in the final 45 seconds to close out the game. Don't let the No. 25 ranking fool you, this team clearly has what it takes to grind out wins against amongst the best teams in the nation.
Texas continues their roll
Burnt Orange Nation
Iowa State came into this one looking to repeat the successes of Michigan State and Texas A&M, but it was not meant to be. At the half, Texas lead the Cyclones 47-29 and there was no looking back from there.
The Horns' spread the ball around and made it tough for Iowa State to identify the main scorer because simply, there was none. Three Texas players finished the night in double digits and had 34 points off the bench. Is Texas returning to the days when KD was around? We will find out soon enough.

Atlanta Hawks head coach Nate McMillan was fired after leading the team to a 29-30 record up to the All-Star break. The move was rumored to be made later in the offseason, but with new management stepping in just before the New Year, they clearly have other plans.
The Hawks are now expected to pursue former Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder, who lead the Jazz to six consecutive playoff appearances. There's no reason why the Hawks should be in the position they're in, and they will be looking to capitalize on the talents of Trae Young and Dejounte Murray to lead the charge back into being serious playoff contenders.

💰 The Cover Corner 💰
About last night: Man, did it look like I was about to go 0-2 towards the beginning of both these games. But, I forgot the most important thing when it comes to system plays: trust the numbers. Don’t ask me if I was scared when the Vancouver game was 4-2 with a minute left because I wasn’t (I was). As we trust the numbers, don't forget to also trust the calendar: January, February, Izzo... With that in mind, let's dive into tonight's picks, shall we?
🏀 CBB: Alabama vs. South Carolina U 148.5
This is only a 90% a system play. Alabama is 8-3 on the under in away games this year. South Carolina is 5-11 at home on their unders.
The other 10% is because Alabama’s off-the-court issues might be slightly distracting. Who knows, their top scorer might not be too great on the court with a prison sentence on the mind.
🏒 NHL: Blackhawks vs. Stars O 6
The Stars are the second best defense in the league with the second best goalie in the league. I’m going with the sharps here and taking the over, but I also believe that this could be a get right spot for the Stars and will find the net early and often. Calling my shot here - Stars win 5-2 and everyone is happy.
As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.

Well, at least they're honest.
🤔 What If Wednesday 🤔
As we've discussed, quarterback Derek Carr is hitting the free agency market, and one potential suitor is making their case to bring him to their team. That team is the New York Jets.

In a recent meeting with the team, the Jets told Carr that they "believe if you come to New York and win, you could be a first ballot Hall of Famer". Those are big statements from a team that hasn't been to the playoffs since 2011, but there's always the what if....
