Let's get into it.
👑 TNF Recap
It was a great night for Eagles fans, great night for any fantasy football owners of the Vikings wide receiving group, but a bad night for everyone else.
The Eagles topped the Vikings in a not-so-close 34-28 game on Thursday Night Football. Philly moves to 2-0, and the Vikings, who were 11-0 in one score games a season ago, move to 0-2 for the season, and in said one score games.
When the Philly defense can guess pass for nearly every down of the night, it makes the game a whole lot easier. Minnesota rushed just nine times last night for 28 yards. To win in the NFL, a balanced attack is usually the winning recipe, and the Vikings did not have that.
Kirk Cousins had a solid game, with his favorite targets TJ Hockenson and Justin Jefferson accounting for over half of his 364 passing yards. The offense is not the problem with this team. Putting up 28 points against a top tier defense in the NFL is no easy task, but the turnover issues plagued the team for the second week in a row.
The Eagles’ offense still hasn’t rounded into the form we were used to seeing last year. It was the least impressive 34 point game from an offense you could get, but first-year Eagle D’Andre Swift showed the world why Philly grabbed him in the offseason. He rushed for 175 yards on the ground on 28 carries and added a touchdown to complete his Philly breakout.
A Vikings’ score in the last minute of the game covered the spread (shoutout Mr. Covers) and gave the impression of a close game, when in reality, these two teams appear to be headed in opposite directions as the NFL picture comes into view.

👑 NFL Preview
⭐️ Best of the Best: Jets vs. Cowboys
If only this game had Aaron Rodgers…
Nonetheless, given the very average Week 2 NFL slate, the afternoon game between these two teams will tell us a lot about the direction each will be heading.
The big question of the day will be if the Jets will be able to find their footing on offense with Zach Wilson. Unfortunately, the old/new Jets QB will have to face off against a team that hasn’t allowed a score all season. As for the Cowboys, Dak and the offense will need to provide a better showing than last week to win this game, even if Brandin Cooks is a no-go on Sunday.
A game with potential Super Bowl implications this early in the season? What more could you ask for!
🥸 Sneaky Fun: Seahawks vs. Lions
Rewind the tapes back to the 2022 NFL season, and this might have been one of the more fun games of the year. These two teams squared off in Week 4 a season ago and provided us with an offensive juggernaut of a matchup, going for a combined 93 points (an easy over).
This year, both offenses return a majority of their production, and each of the defenses got marginally better, at best. Circle this one for your Sunday slate as a game you can sit back, relax, and watch the offense go to work.
💩 The Dud: Bears vs. Buccaneers
No offense to either of these teams, but this game is going to be absolutely god-awful.
Yes, the Bucs are coming off a surprising Week 1 win. Yes, the Bears still have one of the best dual-threat QBs in the NFL. But if we’re being honest, when all is said and done at the end of this season, one of these two teams have a real chance to end up the the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
This game should be viewed for fantasy football and/or betting purposes only.
📚️ College Football Preview
Dear Lord, keep Colorado State safe this weekend because Deion and his boys have officially made things personal. Amen.
College Game Day is headed to Boulder, CO for the first time since ‘96, and the No. 18 ranked Colorado Buffalo have reached a level of hype that we have not seen in college football in quite some time. With each win, the legend around one of the most intriguing teams in the country grows, and this week, it would be a surprise if the Buffalo don’t win by 50.
Also this week, Power Five conferences are starting to dip their toes into conference play. We will finally start to get the true indicator of how good teams really are with games like Mississippi State vs. LSU, Penn State vs. Illinois, Georgia vs. South Carolina, and Washington vs. Michigan State.
💰 Mr. Covers’ Corner
✅ Vikings +7 vs. Eagles
✅ Vikings vs. Eagles Over 49 total points
🟡 Penn State vs. Illinois O 48 total points
🟡 Niners vs. Rams O 44.5 total points
🟡 Bills -9 vs. Raiders
🟡 Memphis -14.5 vs. Navy
About last night…
I am a football guy, there’s no other way around it. I know ball.
I had a small amount of fear in the second quarter because of how bad the Eagles offense looked and how sloppy the Vikings offense was. The Viking's 11-0 record in one-score games has already regressed to 0-2 in both their games this year. If the Vikings don't turn the ball over just one of the four turnovers they had, then they very well could have won this game.
Also, I did not watch the Memphis vs. Navy game but much like the Japanese in the Pacific during World War 2, I am tired of losing to our country's Navy, so I surrender.
🏈 NFL: Jets +9.5 vs. Cowboys & Under 39.5 total points
I can't believe that I haven't given either of these picks out yet.
Both of these picks can be summed up by the defense. The Jets' defense will keep their offense in the game, regardless of how bad Zach Wilson plays. The Cowboys offense didn't look bad, but they also didn't have as much pressure as what the Jets are going to bring.
The Cowboy offense will also likely be without Brandin Cooks, so the offense probably won't be humming enough to be up double-digit points. This will be a low-scoring, hard-fought game, so trust ol’ Covers and take the under.
🏈 NFL: Colts +1.5 vs. Texans
Don't get used to me liking an away divisional underdog, but goodness do I love this position for the Colts.
Had Anthony Richardson not gotten hurt on the last possession last week, the Colts could very well have beaten the Jaguars at home. Their defense played exceptionally, and as for the Texans, I don't think Stroud will handle the pressure as well as Lawrence. Cool nugget of the day: per Action Network, when two winless teams play, the underdog is 67-37-4 ATS since 2005. A.k.a back me!
🏈 CFB: Colorado -24 vs. Colorado State & Over 61 total points
This game is personal for Deion Sanders and Colorado.
Due to Colorado State's head coach's comments, I fully assume that Sanders will keep his foot thoroughly down on the gas pedal and will be running up the points. Also, Colorado State will be playing their redshirt freshman quarterback, so Travis Hunter and the Buffalo defense will be feasting on him.
This could get ugly, but points will be plenty.
🎒CFB season record: 5-5-0
⭐️ NFL season record: 8-1-0
