Nothing Like Postseason Baseball
The Final Countdown, Freak Athlete, and much more!
Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:
⚾️ The Final Countdown
✋ Freak Athlete
🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.
👑 Main Character
And then there were four. Teams all season long have battled to get to the Final Four of the College World Series, and now it all comes down to this.
While the SEC has shown their dominance this season in college baseball, there were a couple of outlier teams that showed they belong on the big stage. With just a few games left until a champion is crowned, let’s take a look at the four remaining teams looking to hoist that coveted NCAA trophy.
LSU
It’s no surprise that the Bayou Bengals are among the last standing teams in the nation. Coming in as the No. 5 seed in the tournament, the Tigers have dominated teams this postseason, with their sole loss coming to Walk Forest earlier this week. Dylan Crews might be one of the best hitters in the country, and if you haven’t heard about him, think of the best home run hitter you know, and he could probably go toe to toe with him.
After knocking out Tennessee last night, the Tigers will have to face off against their lone loss of the CWS, Wake Forest, for a chance to advance to the championship series.
TCU
This team certainly flew under the radar coming into the CWS. They had just a 13-11 conference record in the Big 12, ranking fourth in the conference. But the Horned Frogs have picked up some major momentum after winning the Big 12 Championship and defeating regional host and No. 3 seed Arkansas.
Like LSU, TCU has just one loss to Oral Roberts throughout the CWS, and they avenged that loss by eliminating them in a convincing 6-1 win on Tuesday afternoon. This team isn’t going to overwhelm you with power or speed, but they have shown they can play consistent ball, and that’s all that matters at this stage of the tournament.
Florida
After losing in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt, the Gators were just hoping to move on to Gainesville where they hosted their NCAA Regional, and show the college baseball world why they were not a team to be messed with. Safe to say that has gone well for them so far.
They needed to beat Texas Tech twice in two games to advance out of their region, but since then, have dominated in both Super Regional and CWS play, and have been able to stay in the winners bracket for most of the tournament. The No. 2 seed of the tournament has a seemingly easy path to the championship series with TCU up next, but as we just discussed, sometimes you’re just playing well at the right time.
Wake Forest
This team came in as the No. 1 seed overall and has proven why they deserved that designation all postseason long. They have largely dominated opponents, and have put up 20+ run games multiple times this postseason. At this point, they are the clear favorites to win, but it takes more than a little bit of luck to get to this point.

The future first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft made this baseball look like a pebble in a picture he posted to Instagram. The soon-to-be San Antonio Spur is going to be a mismatch nightmare because of his freak-ish size, but let’s hope his play isn’t like his pitching skills…

Tuesday’s Results:
❌ Rangers -132 vs. White Sox
✅ Rockies vs. Reds O 10 runs
About last night...
The Rangers are going to be quite the roller coaster this year I fear. Giving up three runs in the bottom of the 8th absolutely shattered my sweet sweet heart. Additionally, the Reds have become an absolutely electric team, and if they were in New York, they would get so much more attention.
⚾️ MLB: Rays -150 vs. Orioles
I will be boots on the (state) grounds for this one. The Rays are 31-8 at home this year, and after coming off a loss to the O’s yesterday, I like the positive regression pick here.
⚾️ MLB: D-Backs -145 vs. Brewers / F5 U 4.5 runs
Zac Gallen on the mound means i’m taking the Diamondbacks. He is 8-2 on the year and has not show any signs of slowing down. Both starting pitchers have an 3.00 ERA or lower, so throw a little bit on the F5 under as well.
🥊 Quick Hits
Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill is being investigated for alleged altercation at Miami marina.
The surging Angels are ‘unlikely’ to deal Shohei Ohtani during the season.
Kyle Kuzma has officially entered the free agency pool.
Jon Rahm, like many others, is choosing not to dwell on the PGA/LIV merger.
Zion Williamson has had quite the couple of weeks defending his name.
College football player Austin Simmons is skipping his junior and senior year of high school to enroll at Ole Miss at 17 years old.
