Golf Beef, Pumped On A Friday, and much more!
Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:
🥩 Golf Beef
😜 Pumped On A Friday
🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.
👑 Main Character
You know it’s a slow sports day when the main character was some team conflict in the LIV golf league. Nonetheless, it is the type of drama that we have not really seen before given the season-long team aspect of LIV Golf.
Brooks Koepka, the captain of Smash GC, went on record yesterday to call out teammate Matthew Wolff saying that his “talent is wasted” and that he has “basically given up on him.”
🚨✌️😡 WASTED TALENT — LIV Golf star & Smash GC captain Brooks Koepka UNLOADS on teammate Matt Wolff: “I mean, when you quit on your round, you give up and stuff like that, that's not competing….I'm not a big fan of that. You don't work hard. It's very tough. It's very tough to… httptwitter.com/i/web/status/1…p

Wolff gained notoriety for his funky looking backswing, and had a few competitive events before bolting to LIV. Since he’s joined the new startup league, I don’t think I’ve heard a single thing about him until this very moment. I guess that’s where Koepka’s frustration comes from.
Maybe Brooks has a point, maybe he’s using it as motivation for Wolff, but whatever the case, beef in golf is something that even the most casual golf fan can enjoy.

🐣 Tweet of the Day
Damian Lillard just tweeted this 👀

Damian Lillard has gone from beloved member of the NBA to Mr. Drama in a matter of just one NBA offseason.
No one can seem to figure out what exactly is going on, but after requesting a trade to Miami and refusing to go to any other team, the fact nothing has happened yet has to be concerning to anyone involved in this whole process. It should be any day now that this is all resolved, but for a guy who has stayed out of the drama for the better part of his career, Lillard is deciding to now step up for what he wants, and he is clearly not backing down.
💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner
With football season fast approaching, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with what happened this offseason, and who the odds on favorites are to win the division, and the whole dang thing.
Today, we’re looking through a division that has had a roller coaster of emotions the past couple of decades.
NFC East
Eagles -120, Cowboys +170, Giants +600, Commanders +900
This is the definition of a two-horse race. There is no reason to consider the Giants or Commanders as the Cowboys and Eagles are both top 5 teams in the league.
This division will come down to division scheduling. I could honestly write a novel about the scheduling complexities, but I won’t; I will just say that I think the Eagles have a slight edge in scheduling. Plus also, I see them as a slightly better all-around team. There is still room for the Boys to make a run, but there isn’t enough of an odds disparity for me to back them.
💵 Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -120
