NFL Coaches are on the Move
Teams are starting to get their guys and one team in particular is not happy
Welcome back to another edition of Snagged Sports, where we ✨snag✨ all the best stories in sports and serve them to you on a screen near you. In today's edition, NFL coaches gets shaken up, an update on the newest golf league in town, and twitter beef from two unexpected characters. Let's get into it.
🏆 The Main Character: New NFL Coaches
The NFL woke up yesterday and decided to stir up some new storylines for NFL fans to talk about while they wait until next season's kickoff. Above were four notable coaching hires made that will greatly impact each of their respective teams. Let's break down each of these hires and what exactly it might mean.
Arizona Gets New Age Kingsbury
Jonathan Gannon, ex-defensive coordinator for the runner-up Philadelphia Eagles, said as recently as this Super Bowl run that expects to be here, no matter good, bad, or indifferent - whatever that means. No seriously, watch:
“Philly is keeping me. Good bad or indifferent I’m staying here.” - Jonathan Gannon after beating the 49ers in the NFC Championship 😅

Clearly things changed, and now he is getting a questionably deserved promotion. Giving up 38 points in the most important game of your life doesn't exactly scream 'clutch gene'.
The Cardinals are however getting a guy who did an incredible job this season (up until three days ago) helping coach arguably the best defense in the league. He got his start in coaching in 2002 under Bobby Petrino, so let's hope he has better off the field personality than his mentor.
Colts Hire the Next QB Whisperer
It's become quite clear in the past 24 hours why Indianapolis went to out to get Steichen. The ex-offensive coordinator for the Eagles (big OOF to Philly) has quarterback guru written all over him.
He helped develop Justin Herbert right out of the draft in 2020 for the LA Chargers. He unlocked Jalen Hurts and turned him into an MVP caliber player. As all good things come in three's, the hope is that the Colts can turn whoever they inevitably draft at quarterback into their franchise guy for the long-run, and long-run it is with a Steichen inking a 6-year deal.

Monken joins the Ravens from the back-to-back National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. If you may recall, he turned a walk-on nobody in Stetson Bennett into a household name and Bulldog legend. If he can do that with Bennett, the sky is the limit on offense with former unanimous NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
The transfer from college to the NFL is no cake walk (just ask Urban Meyer), but easing into the NFL scene at a coordinator level seems like a less dramatic shift. If he can get the Baltimore offense humming like he did in the latest National Championship game, Ravens fans might need to secure tickets to Las Vegas soon.
Panthers Add Experience to its Staff
Jim Caldwell has had his chances as a head coach, and to put it nicely, it never went well. We never saw his time in Indy or Detroit end with a positive outcome. However, the Panthers NEED someone who has coached around the league at a high level for a long time, and Caldwell fits that bill perfectly.
This Panthers' team is young all around, so adding Caldwell to the coaching room can only provide valuable wisdom and knowledge to the facility right? For Carolina's sake, let's hope so.

The TGL, a PGA Tour backed league, has signed two of its newest members to join for its inaugural season in 2024.
What is the TGL? I'm glad you asked.
Innovative new golf league that will combine immesive technology and live-action sports
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlory, two of golf's biggest stars, have already committed
Six teams of three will be formed and each will face-off in a 15 week regular season
If you love golf, this is what you love to see. Innovation has already been happening with the addition of the LIV Tour, and whether you like them or not, it has forced the most traditional game in the world to rethink its future.
Xander Schaueffle and Justin Rose are names people know, and more importantly, are names people associate with winning. Schaueffle has an Olympic gold medal to his name while Rose has been a perennial force in the PGA for quite some time now.
As more players are announced, the hype will only continue to grow. January 2024 can't come soon enough.

Valentine's Day cards were dispersed across the internet for the pleasure of its fans. Some were clever. Some were funny. But these were some of our absolute favorites:
Jacksonville Jaguars
@DoyersDave
New York Basketball
But there was one highly discussed Valentine in particular that we'll get to a bit later. Don't worry, we saw it.
💰 The Cover Corner 💰
About last night: There are 3 guarantees in life: death, taxes, and Providence winning at home. As I was celebrating the day of love, I unfortunately didn’t get to watch this absolute shootout, but believe me, I never doubted the Friars would cover 2.5 points at home for one second.
On the other hand, there's not much to say about that Panthers ML other than I should’ve known they would play their backup goalie on a back to back and 4th game in 6 days. But it takes a big man to admit his mistake, and I am that big man. It was a bad pick.
Let's jump into what I love for tonight:
🏀 NBA: Spurs vs. Hornets U 239.5
Gross. Disgusting. Horrendous. I love it so much. Both of these teams are on for the #TankForWemby, and in order to do that, losing is a must. This line is very inflated due to the uncharacteristic 144 points from Charlotte on Monday night. Hopefully you don't watch this stinker of a game, so sit back, relax, and let the under come to you stress free.
🏀 CBB: Northwestern +1.5 vs. Indiana
I love this game from all angles. I was originally going back and forth on the under, and I will probably bet that, but I love getting Northwestern as a home underdog here. Indiana is 2-6-1 on the road ATS and 4-5 SU. Northwestern has one of the best defenses in the country and should be a really tough, close conference game all around. I faded the home conference dog last week but not this time
**Editor's note** Since posting, Northwestern's line is now +2.5. I will not hedge. I cannot be moved. I cannot be beat (except once this week so far). I will not back down from this line movement. Wildcats all the way.
As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.
🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣
Is this childish or just some good ol' fashion trash talking? It seems like the sting of the Super Bowl loss was a little too fresh for this "friendly" banter.
Eagles' DB CJ Gardner-Johnson fired back to defend his teammate. He does make a valid point.
I got more INT’s then bra had TD’s….. maybe I need to change to WR 😅😂

But Super Bowl LVII MVP Patrick Mahomes made sure he got the last word in.
That man must just be bored.

A subtweet made classy. Just as you would expect.
🤔 'What If' Wednesday 🤔
NFL Free Agency is all the buzz, and the big name people are talking about is Derek Carr. He was officially released by the Las Vegas Raiders yesterday, and teams are already lining up to get a shot at adding him to their rosters. What if he went to the...
New Orleans Saints. There was reportedly already a trade structure forming to bring Carr to the Saints, and now they have the opportunity at him without giving up any assets of their own. He would join an offensive with serious potential with standout rookie Chris Olave, the injury prone Michael Thomas, and wide-back Alvin Kamara. This is probably the best situation you could hope to join from an offensive perspective as the team is building themselves back up with new Head Coach, Dennis Allen.
New York Jets. Gang Green has been talking about a new quarterback ever since Zach Wilson was benched early this season. Quarterback carousels are typically not associated with winning teams, and the Jets certainly want to address the QB position this offseason. Their rookie class was outstanding and took him both Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year award. With a fairly young squad, Carr would be able to slide into a veteran role to fix the one part of the offense that desperately needs it most.
Carolina Panthers. Much like the Jets, the Panthers have had issues finding their quarterback of the future for a while now. The loss of Christian McCaffery does not help the appeal of free agents, much less high profile guys, but with a weapon in D.J. Moore and a stellar defense, it might be more appealing than what meets the eye. Not to mention the NFC South was one of the worst divisions in football last season, and with the exit of Brady, it as wide open as it's been in a while.
Derek Carr, unlike many future free agents, has the option to sign with a team whenever he would like, so it could be very soon we see where he ends up going.
