New King of the Court, Jam-Packed Quick Hits, and much more!

Good morning everyone! For a weekend in the middle of July, it was quite the noteworthy couple of days.

Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

👑 New King of the Court

🥊 Jam-Packed Quick Hits

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

There’s a new man at the top of the tennis world, and his name is Carlos Alcaraz.

After a thrilling five set championship match on tennis’ biggest stage, Wimbledon, Mr. Alcaraz dethroned one of the tennis greats for his second Grand Slam title of his very young career. The 20-year-old has been referenced as the ‘next up’ in many circles around the sport, but now, its evident to see that we may be seeing the beginnings of the start of a dominant career.

Novak Djokovic, this year’s runner-up, had some extremely high praise for the up-and-comer.

The future is now according to this guy, and who are we to not listen to one of the GOATs? Alcaraz has much much more left in the tank, and with comparisons to the three guys mentioned above, he’s well on his way to becoming royalty in the sport, if he hasn’t already achieved such status.

🥺 Wholesome Content

There’s nothing, I repeat, nothing, more wholesome than animals playing sports. By the looks of it, this guy is going places.

🐣 Tweet(s) of the Day

Rory McIlroy pulled off one of the more impressive wins of the season at the Genesis Scottish Open on Sunday after going birdie-birdie on the 17th and 18th holes to steal the victory away from Robert MacIntyre.

The camera. The club twirl. The confidence. Right now, Rory has it all as he heads into The Open looking to capture his first major tournament victory in nearly a decade.

On another note, what can’t this man do? Even on the golf course he can’t miss!

And yes, he ended up winning the American Century Championship in dramatic fashion with an eagle on the 72nd hole.

💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner

Now that you know where Snagged Sports stands in regards to divisional standings and which teams we’re backing, it’s time to break it down even further.

It’s simple: over or under.

Over the next couple of days, Mr. Covers has picked a few of his favorite teams and accurately predicted each of their win totals on the year. Let’s dive into the next team that consistently has Super Bowl aspirations (according to their fans).

Dallas Cowboys
Over/Under 10 wins

I want everyone reading this to take a moment to appreciate the fact that the Cowboys will not have Kellen Moore calling plays anymore. That alone will win this team at least two games.

Looking at the Cowboys’ schedule, I could see them getting behind and starting 0-2. However, from Week 3 to Week 14, it wouldn’t be difficult to see them winning nine out of 11 games.

Mike McCarthy has led his Cowboys to back-to-back 12 win seasons, and I genuinely do not see them losing less than the win total listed above.

💵 Pick: Over 10 wins
