Main Character: Money Bags

Yesterday was a big day for Washington Commanders fans as not one, but two fully backed bids were placed for the purchase of the team. The price tag? 6 billion (with a B) dollars. Like all of us, this was Dolphins' head coach Mike McDaniel's reaction.

The Offers

The first offer reported is one led by businessman Josh Harris and includes all-time great Magic Johnson. The group met the $6B asking price and will now wait for all the due diligence on the finance side before anything is confirmed.

Harris was a bidder in the Broncos' sweepstakes last year when they sold for $4.6B, but ultimately, was not a part of the group that ended up purchasing the team. Now Harris, along with a variety of other contributors will have a chance to secure a team that will potentially sell for the highest amount ever for a sports franchise.

The second offer came rolling in a few hours later, and is spearheaded by Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos (a potential all-time great owner name) and Houston Rockets' owner Tilman Fertitta. The group also submit a bid of $6B and will have to wait to see what current owner, Dan Snyder, decides to do.

What About Bezos?

It has been reported that Jeff Bezos is still very interested in purchasing the team after initially being the front runner to land the Commanders. He was shut out of the process early on, but if Bezos is known for one thing, it's that he doesn't lose when it comes to money.

Regardless of who ends up with the team, the finalization of this sale could take upwards of two months, but with legitimate offers on the table, the Washington Commanders are that much closer to ridding themselves of one of the most controversial and pot-stirring owners in the NFL.

Woj dropped another bomb and released the Basketball Hall of Fame's star studded 2023 inductees last night which include Dirk Nowitzki, Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol, and Gregg Popovich.

Between the names listed are 11 championships, 32 All-Star appearances, 3,563 wins (and counting), a member of the 30,000 point club, and countless memories associated with the Mavericks, Heat, Lakers, and Spurs franchises respectively. The official announcement will be later this weekend, but let's be honest, none of the these names are a surprise to anybody.

For our Dallas readers, and Mrs. Editor specifically, please take this time to watch Dirk Nowitzki's all-time moments that have lead to this monumental honor.

🤍 Wholesome Content 🤍

It was a family affair last night at the McDonald's All American game. Bronny James put on a show in the dunk contest, and in the game, finishing with a clutch three to put his team up for good. Will he be the next big thing, just like his dad? Hopefully, we will get to answers to that question very soon.

💰 Mr. Cover's Corner 💰

❌ LA Kings +115 vs. Calgary

❌ Boston O 3.5 Goals -150

About last night...

Not a whole lot to say when both teams just come out flat. Offensive momentum is such a key component to winning in today's NHL, and it’s hard to do that when the opposing goalie has a fantastic night. Both goalies had 33 and 35 saves. Hats off to the goalies, but we hate to see an 0-2 night. The ice pick(s) will sharpen, I can promise you that.

🏒 NHL: Maple Leafs -145 vs. Panthers

Florida has been absolute garbage over the last few weeks. Toronto is the better team here, playing at home (25-7 SU), and have won the previous two matchups. This isn’t the first round of the playoffs yet, so I’m going to back the Leafs here.

🏀 NBA: Timberwolves 1H +3.5 vs. Suns

“BuT KeViN dUrAnT iS bAcK.” I don’t care. I think Phoenix can win this game, but the Suns haven’t played enough games together and haven’t had the time to completely mesh with Durant. KD coming back from injury will also need some time to get back in the swing of things. The T-Wolves are third best in the league at covering first half spreads, and they are playing really well right now *wolf noise*.

As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

Draymond Green is once again in the middle of some NBA drama, but this time with the New Orleans Pelicans. Listen in on one of his all-time post game interviews, because Green is truly a 1 of 1 type of guy.
