Last But Not Least

Champion Golfer, What Can’t He Do?, and much more!

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

⛳️ Champion Golfer

🐐 What Can’t He Do?

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Through rough conditions and in a loaded field of talent, the left-handed, 5-foot-7, steady Brian Harmon came out on top the become the Champion Golfer of the Year at The Open, ending the major season for 2023.

The former Georgia Bulldog picked up his first win on tour since 2017 and became the oldest player (37) to win his first major since Sergio did so at the Masters.

He jumped out to an early lead after his Friday round put him at -10 for the tournament, and he never looked back. Harmon, not known for his mental fortitude, shined in that area all weekend. But it really showed on the putting greens. He went 58-59 from putts within 10 feet, and if you’re a stats guy like me, that’s a 98.3% success rate. Pretty good if you ask me.

The long-shot at the beginning of the championship ends up with the Claret Jug at the end. We all love a good underdog story, and what better way to cap off an incredible run than with one more?

🥺 Wholesome Content

Before you say anything, yes, we’re doubling up on the golf content.

The hometown kid wrapped up his Open Championship debut at his home course with a T-11 finish, and his friends and family were there to greet him after all was said and done. What a moment for golf’s MJ.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

This is what dreams are made of.

Lionel Messi scored in his MLS debut on a free kick in the 94th minute to win the game for his new home. The goat of goats does it again, further proving that he stands among the greats no matter where he plays.
