Main Character: Sac-town
The longest playoff drought in North America has finally ended as the Sacremento Kings clinched a playoff berth last night against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Kings have not made the playoffs since the 2005-2006 NBA season, so to give some context, here are a couple of things that were happening around that time.
Nintendo rolled out its newest video game console, the Wii.
Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' was charting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Talladega Nights, featuring Will Ferrell, hit theaters.
George W. Bush was in the middle of his 2nd term in office as President.
Twitter was created.
Hines Ward was coming off a Super Bowl MVP performance as the Steelers beat the Seahawks.
If that doesn't put the Kings' playoff drought in perspective, I don't know what else will.
Lighting the Beam
Some are calling this team the 'Light the Beam' team as after each Kings' win, the arena sends that beautiful purple beam into the sky. The combination of De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis have been the defining duo of this team, but the supporting cast of Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, and Harrison Barnes have put teams on notice of what it means to revitalize careers and show others how to do it successfully.
Yes, the Kings' playoff drought is over, but this isn't a fluke. As of today, they are a solid 46-30, and have a real chance of being a top 3 seed heading into the NBA playoffs. Star player, De'Aaron Fox said it best, "We want to do bigger things, but we know what our goal is. It's not just to make the playoffs. It's to make some noise there."
If you are looking for a team to adopt in this year's upcoming NBA playoffs, strongly consider the underdogs of Sacremento, and join the city on their wild ride from bottom-dwellers, to potentially, the top dog of the NBA.
You May Not Have Seen THIS 👀
It's time to get out your peanuts and cracker jacks because baseball season is finally here.
All 30 MLB teams are in action today in what is so notably referred to as Opening Day. It's the team of year where nothing but hope is in the air, and all teams (at least hypothetically) have a chance to make their dreams come true and make a run at the World Series title. But since we are living in reality, here are the teams with the best odds at winning it all this year:
Houston Astros +600
Atlanta Braves +750
Los Angeles Dodgers +750
New York Yankees +850
New York Mets +900
San Diego Padres +1000
Unfortunately for everyone (sorry Houston-ites) the Astros come into the season with the best odds at winning, and repeating, as World Champs, but with star player Jose Altuve out for the first couple of months, the 'Stros will have to manage at the second base position. The Padres, as the "dark horse" among favorites, spent the offseason on a shopping spree, and now have the ultimate hitters lineup in Bogaerts, Machado, Soto, and Tatis Jr. If you love offensive output, look no further than this Padres team.
As always, some teams will emerge as surprises of the season, and that's the fun of the MLB Season. You never know which teams can get hot and find the right team chemistry to put something special together down the stretch. The road to the October starts now, so buckle up and enjoy the 162 game season that is sure to deliver.

💰 Mr. Cover's Corner 💰
❌ Maple Leafs -145 vs. Panthers
✅ Timberwolves 1H +3.5 vs. Suns
About last night...
The Leafs have become a team that I cannot seem to get on the right side of. I’ll give them a rest until playoff time because woof, what a performance from them. The Timberwolves on the other hand have been such great value. After last night's win, I’m afraid the market might adjust, but hey, they got the cover last night, and that's all I'm asking for. 1-1 🤠
⚾️ MLB: Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers U 7.5 runs
You better get used to me picking Diamondbacks unders. Two great pitchers in Julio Urias and Zac Gallen had an ERA of less than 2.6 last year, and if you know math, that's a good sign for our numbers. Look for that to continue on Opening Day.
⚾️ MLB: Phillies vs. Rangers -135
I’m so ready to be back in the mix as a Rangers fan after a tough couple of years. This is definitely a pick where I am putting my faith in Jacob deGrom. I believe whole-heartedly the Rangers will win this game and start off this season on the right foot behind the former Cy Young winner's beautiful arm.
As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

No, this isn't the beach scene from Top Gun Maverick. It's safe to say Tom Brady, and a couple of his former Patriots teammates, are enjoying themselves in retirement.
