Recognize this man? Well if you don’t, it’s time to get to know him because his name is Connor McDavid, and he is your 2023-24 NHL MVP.

Since being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2015, McDavid has become a perennial All-Star, and now, three-time winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy. Just to show how much of an impact he’s had on the ice since he hit the rink skating eight years ago, here are some important stats to put his dominance in perspective:

• 850 total points in 569 games played

• 303 goals

• Had the first 150+ point season in over 20 years

• 5x Art Ross award winner (most points in a regular season)

• 3x Hart winner

• 3x Pearson award winner (most outstanding player voted on by NHLPA)

Not too shabby.

With intent to retire at the end of this season, one of baseball’s greats, Miguel Caberera, was honored last night with a gift from Texas Rangers legend, Pudge Rodriguez. Putting the gloves aside to honor one of the best to ever do it, regardless of the stakes, is always nice to see.

In the words (and voice) of LSU national championship coach Ed Orgeron, Geaux Tigers! After getting absolutely trounced in Game 2 of the championship series, LSU came back with some offense of their own and blew Florida’s hope of a championship right out of the water with a 18-4 win.

Although the dramatics were taken from us in a winner-take-all championship game, LSU showed the college baseball, and college sports world, that they are a university not to be taken lightly. First basketball, now baseball, who’s to say they aren’t going to win every sports’ championship this year?

With two struggling starting pitchers in the lineup for these teams, it’s not hard to see this is going to come down to the bullpen. The “experts” have it going 50/50, but this expert knows one thing that they do not; this seemingly average road team is out to prove to the baseball world they belong, and what bigger stage to do that on than at Fenway Park? Give me the Marlins here, but with a little bit of wiggle room.
