Happy Birthday America
AFC North Predictions, some quick hits, and more!
Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:
🇺🇸 Happy Bday
🏈 AFC North Predictions
🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.
👑 Main Character
If you’re new here, this is not the norm. But for today, we are keeping things short and sweet in honor of America’s birthday.
A quick overview in the last 24 hours of sports:
The Rangers and Astros played in a July classic during Monday’s matinee. After the Rangers came back after being down 10-2, the Astros climbed out of an embarrassing hole to win the game 12-11. More games like this please!
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards agreed to a five-year, $260 million dollar deal. Oh what a world.
Ronald Acuña Jr. made history becoming the first player in MLB history to hit 20 home runs, steal 40 bases, and have 50 RBIs before the All-Star break. Seems like an All-Star to me.
Good news: Raiders’ tight end Foster Moreau says his cancer is in ‘full remission’.
The Home Run Derby is still busy setting its field, and there are quite a few big names competing in this year’s competition.
Other than these quick hits, we hope you enjoy you’re day off grilling some dogs, sipping on cold drinks, and spending time with friends and family.
💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner
With football season fast approaching, it’s time to re-familiarize ourselves with what happened this offseason, and who the odds on favorites are to win the division, and the whole dang thing.
Today, we’re starting off in what has always been one of the most competitive divisions in NFL history.
AFC North
Bengals +120 // Ravens +240 // Browns +350 // Steelers +550
This is easily the most competitive division from top to bottom, and it’s very evident that Vegas sees it that way too. It’s difficult to not take the Bengals to win this division, but for some reason, I just can’t get myself to do it. I hammered the Bengals last year mid-year, and it ended up being the right decision. In divisions that are as competitive as this one, it is typically better to sit back and wait to see how everything comes to fruition for the first month or two.
For the argument of other teams: Cleveland added Zadarius Smith via trade and Deshaun will have the full year to massage out the kinks he had from his suspension last year. The Ravens were able to retain Lamar and gift him a brand new arsenal of new talent. The Steelers have Kenny Pickett but more importantly, Mike Tomlin.
💵 Pick: Talk to me after Week 9 (probably Bengals)
