+ a Buffalo Bills team preview and Mr. Covers doesn't like Bears

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the world of football today:

🏈 We’re Back

🦬 Welcome to Snagged Team Previews

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

NFL preseason is here!

Now I know it isn’t the brand of football we all love to watch, especially with many starters nowadays not even suiting up in many instances. BUT, it’s football, so really, what more could you ask for?

Week 1 of the preseason kicks off tonight with two games featuring the Vikings vs. Seahawks and the Texans vs. Patriots. While the big namers such as JJettas, Matt Judon, DK and (I could not think of a single “big name” Texan) likely to be no-shows, take joy in the fact that we may get some wholesome preseason content with various players hoping to emerge as 52-man roster candidates.

👀 Team Preview

Welcome to Snagged Sports’ NFL team previews! Each day leading up to the NFL regular season, we’ll cover one (maybe two) teams to get you all caught up.

First on the list: the Buffalo Bills

  • Last year’s record: 13-3

  • Result: loss to Bengals in AFC Divisional round

The Josh Allen led Bills are back again with high hopes of finally cashing in on one of their most successful teams this side of the 2000’s.

The offense lives and dies with Allen, and with a majority of the starting 11 staying the same (outside the departure of Devin Singletary), the Bills will look to have the same type of offensive production as last year. Adding rookie Dalton Kincaid at tight end does nothing but add another headache to opposing defenses.

The defense was the main issue when it came to this squad last year, but it wasn’t due to the personnel. The injury bug bit hurt on the defense last season with star players Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White missing significant time. Linebacker Matt Milano emerged as one of the leaders of this Bills defense, and down linemen Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau and Shaq Lawson will hope to alleviate some of the stress on the secondary but getting to the QB.

Best Case Scenario: Super Bowl winners

The Bills put it all together. Josh Allen breaks out for another MVP-caliber season, and the defense stays healthy as one of the best front-seven in all of professional football.

They march their way to a similar 13-3 or better yet, 14-2 record to take the No. 1 seed in the AFC and capture home field advantage throughout the playoffs en route to a Lombardi trophy.

Worst Case Scenario: lose division, AFC wildcard team

Allen and Diggs struggle to connect early on and the run game lacks to support the offense. The defense is unable to solidify a true identity and becomes just average across the board. The Bills will have a hard time missing the playoffs, but they will need to keep an eye on both the Dolphins and Jets as they pose real threats to the division as potential Bill-killers.

💰 Mr. Covers’ Corner

Can this rebuilding franchise put the pieces together to make a run at the playoffs? Mr. Covers’ says no!

🐻 Chicago Bears to miss the playoffs -180 + U 7.5 wins

As someone who has stock in Justin Fields in my dynasty league, this hurts.

The addition of DJ Moore and the drafting of a new offensive tackle alone can’t make up for the lack of talent on both the offensive and defensive lines. Too add to that, Justin Fields still does not know how to get rid of the ball as shown by him getting sacked 55 times last year.

There are major question marks all over the o-line and the entire defense, outside of Jaquan Brisker. They have the luxury of a relatively easy schedule, but doing the math on my power rankings within the NFC, I have them set at spot No. 9. Given that someone from the NFC South has to make the playoffs, it sets Da Bears back to No. 10.

There has been far too much money put on to this team and it has forced books to give us this great value. I will fade them this year, but will look to back them next year.
