Main Character: NBA 🏀

The NBA is back following the All-Star break, and teams have the next 22 games to figure out if they're headed to the playoffs or the scouting report. There was lots of action around the league, including a couple of game-winners, and a team who may just have what it takes to make a deep run.

Grizzlies vs. 76ers

ESPN

The Grizzlies rolled into Philly, and through the first three quarters, looked like they were ready to prove to the league that they are one of the top teams in the West. While that still may be true, Harden, Embiid, and Co. stepped up at the right team to deliver the Sixers a win, including this game-winning block from Embiid.

Thunder vs. Jazz

Talk about a come-up. NBA All-Star Lauri Markkanen has put the league on notice and has shown this season that he is a player that can carry a team late in games. The young core of OKC did all they could to stop the Jazz with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's 39 points and Josh Giddey's 18 points, but it was All-Star Markkanen that lead the game in scoring with 43 points.

After the game was sent into OT thanks to a block by Jazz center Walker Kessler, Markkanen put up a 3 with 4.6 seconds to go and was fouled. He calmly knocked down all three to get the Jazz the W.

Spurs vs. Mavs

@dallasmavs

The Mavs are starting to look scary. Now, mind you, it was against the worst team in the league, but the star duo in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving look as good as advertised with a combined 51 points and 16 assists. EIGHT Mavericks finished with double digits on the night with newcomer Justin Holiday coming off the bench with 15 points on 5-6 shooting from three, being the most impactful.

Give credit to the Spurs, they kept the game close up until the 4th quarter, but it is safe to say the tank is ON for stud Frenchman, Victor Wembanyama.

You May Not Have Seen THIS 👀

Packers quarterback (for now) Aaron Rodgers has officially completed his four-day darkness retreat that he said would "help him determine [his] future". The 'house' he stayed in looks straight out of something from a land far far away.

This is nothing out of the ordinary for Rodgers as he loves to draw out his decisions on his future plans. The Jets, Raiders, Patriots, and of course the Packers are all considered viable destinations for the QB. There's also a world where Rodgers decides to pack it up and head into the sunset for retirement.

Whatever he decides, I'm sure we will get to hear all about it, and more importantly, what in the world he did for those four days.

John Hao, a Michigan State survivor, has been in the hospital recovering from his injuries sustained in the shooting on February 14th. Hao's friend set up a GoFundMe page to help with the medical expenses, and to their surprise, a certain NBA star was more than willing to get in contact with them.

James Harden can sometimes get a bad rep, but this is awesome to see. Get well soon John!

💰 The Cover Corner 💰

About last night: Woof. These were two picks that could not have been more wrong. The Red Wings dominated the Rangers in every aspect of the game. Just an ugly showing all around from the "hottest team in the league". Over in the NBA, the Jazz and Thunder came out flat and were no where near what we needed to cash our bets.

It was an ugly night all around, but you know what they say, there's always the next bet.

🏒 NHL: Toronto -200 vs. Minnesota

For now, I’m done giving long, drawn-out reasons for such obvious bets. The Leafs are better, thus they should win this game. K.I.S.S. - keep it simple stupid!

🏀 NBA: Knicks first half ML vs. Wizards

This line may move, so take whatever number gives you the best value. The Knicks are the best in the league ATS in the first half at 40-18-2, and there's no reason they shouldn't stay hot post All-Star break.

On an unrelated note, I found out that Kyle Kuzma is averaging 21.4 PPG, and I, for one, was astonished to learn that. To my credit, I have never lost faith in him, but hopefully he goes cold in the first half tonight. Sorry not sorry Kuz.

As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.
