Drama in Indy

Sit Back and Enjoy the Show, Making Moves, and much more!

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🍿 Sit Back and Enjoy the Show

⚾️ Making Moves

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Hold on to your hats, because this story out of Indy has become quite the whirlwind.

Jonathan Taylor, the Colts’ running back and best player on the roster, officially requested to be traded away to a different franchise earlier last week. In a previous edition, we walked through the state of the running back position, and with this move, Taylor is seemingly trying to get out in front of what is currently happening in the RB market.

Taylor and the owner of the Colts, Jim Irsay, met in person to try to talk things out. Spoiler alert, it did not go well.

Mr. Irsay is known around the league for being, let’s say eccentric, and you can see why here. The two left things in a worse state than they were before the meeting. For further proof, take a look at his quote:

Safe to say Jonathan Taylor probably doesn’t want to be around the Colts’ training camp any time soon.

But wait, there’s more! Earlier this weekend, it was reported the Taylor was dealing with back pain, and if teams wanted to trade for him, they should be aware of his injury history. Well, come to find out, apparently that isn’t the case…

Wowza. Irsay and the Colts have a BIG problem to deal with in the coming days and weeks, especially if Taylor decides to try and sit out the season if he is not traded. This looks like it’s just the beginning, so buckle in, because this could get even bumpier.

🥺 Wholesome Content

As if the rush of winning your first PGA event wasn’t enough, 3M Open winner Lee Hodges was able to celebrate his big win with his high school sweetheart on the 18th green. That’s what dreams are made of.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

I have to admit to you: I am a Texas Rangers fan. I will try to leave as much bias out of this section as possible, but if some does in fact slip in, that’s just the fan in me speaking writing.

The Rangers are clearly going all-in. After losing Jacob deGrom for the foreseeable future to Tommy John, the front office decided the team still needed an elite arm to cover for him in his absence.

Enter Max Scherzer.

The 3-time Cy Young winner is headed to DFW to help fill in for a recently struggling starting rotation. After the move, the Rangers’ World Series odds jumped from +110 to +850, so don’t tell me that one player can’t make a difference.

Bolstering up the roster with elite arms has never hurt a team, and with other additions of SP Jordan Montgomery and RP Chris Stratton, this team has championships on its mind.

💰 Mr. Covers’ Corner

He’s back everyone!

As we ease back into the heavier season of the sports calendar, Mr. Covers is sitting us down and teach us some life lessons that we can all learn from.

Lesson 2: Stick to what you know

Listen, I like to gamble for the love of the sport, but I also like to gamble to make money.

There are bets that you place to have fun on a random Tuesday night in February on a college basketball game just to feel something, and that is ok. Just remember to limit your units on those bets so that you can bet on the sports you know best as opposed to sports you just generally enjoy watching.

For me, the NFL and NHL are my expertise, so I am going to place more wagers at higher amounts than I would on a college football or basketball game.

Bet what you know heavy. Bet what you kind of know a little. And ignore what you don’t know.
