Weekend Headlines

We said there was going to be a lot to watch for this weekend in sports, and boy were we right. Stars emerged, playoff pictures are forming, and we, the fans, were left to soak it all in and enjoy the moment.

NBA

SI

If you're an NBA fan, it doesn't get much better than Sunday's slate of action.

A new rivalry is being born before our very eyes as the Phoenix Suns took down the Mavericks late in the 4th quarter on Dallas' home court. Four players finished the game with 30+ points, but it was the new guy on the block, Kevin Durant, who put the game out of reach with 4 points in the final 12 seconds of the game. Kyrie and Luka are now 2-5 when sharing the court, and something needs to happen fast to right the ship in D-town.

For the evening cleanser, the red hot Knicks took on the Boston Celtics at home as they looked to take them down for the second time in four games.

Regulation time was not enough for these teams to settle the score, and it took not one, but two overtime periods to declare a winner. The Knicks, with an injured Jalen Brunson, slotted in Immanuel Quickley into place, and boy did he show out. In 55 minutes, Quickley put up 38 points with 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Not bad for a backup.

Julius Randle and RJ Barrett combined for another 60 points as the Celtics could not keep up. The Knicks complete the season sweep of the Celtics, and many are wondering, is this team the Celtics' kryptonite?

Golf

Golfweek - USA Today

If I were to tell you that guys like Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Jordan Spieth were competing on a Sunday for a title, you would think one of those guys would win it right?

Well, enter Kurt Kitayama, the dragon slayer. Kitayama was a dark horse entering the weekend for his first event at the notoriously challenging course, Bay Hill. He blew right through the course's reputation, and even with a triple bogey on his card in the final round, he managed to win his first PGA Tour event and a cool $3.6 million prize.

What a day for Kurt, and who knows, maybe this is the start of him competing for majors and entering the realm of elite golfers.

Former NFL wideout, Josh Gordon, is proving to everyone he is still a force to be reckoned with on the football field. He was a large part of why the Sea Dragons got their first win of the season Saturday night.

He did all of this, and even threw in a successful three-point conversion from the 10 yard line. Gordon may be one of the biggest what-if stories in recent football history, but I'm glad to see him balling out on football's second biggest stage a

About last night...

Knicks fever has the country at a stand still, and I am fully expecting that big Red Cross ship to come into the New York harbor after the mayor declares a state of emergency. Depending on when you played the number, you may or may not have won this bet as it was originally at -3 and creeped all the way down to knicks +1.5. If you listened to me, it was a win in all of our books.

I tried to zig where everyone else zagged and when I took the under in the Jets vs. Oilers game, but that thing sailed wayyyy over. Oh well, a next week means a fresh new slate.

🏀 NBA: Cavaliers -6 vs. Celtics

System play alert: the Celtics just lost a brutal double OT game against MY New York Knicks. They then had to hop on a plane after the game and fly to Cleveland only to play again tonight. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see the Celtics sit some of their star players after such a grueling game, so give me the Cavs in this one.

🏒 NHL: Stars ML -133 vs. Flames

I still wake up in the middle of the night and see Jake Oettinger saving 60+ shots against Calgary in Game 7 of their playoff series last year. Boy, did that one hurt.

Nevertheless, the Stars made 3 solid trades at the deadline, and the offense is playing well (don’t ask about the defense). I expect MY Dallas Stars to finally get revenge on the Flames.

As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

The hype around former Gators' quarterback Anthony Richardson is at an all-time high.

He decided to let his work speak for himself as he set near records at every measurable he could. This guy is no longer a hypothetical first round pick, and I'm sure teams will be more than willing to take a shot on a guy with athleticism like this.
