Does He Stay or Does He Go?, Black is the New Green, and much more!
Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:
😇 Does He Stay or Does He Go?
⚫️ Black is the New Green
🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.
👑 Main Character
The trade talks are heating up around once-in-a-lifetime player Shohei Ohtani.
The Angels, who previously proclaimed that there would be a trade ‘under any circumstance’ has since changed their tune and have begun listening to trade offers. In order for them to even consider a trade, they have made it clear they want at minimum two top 100 prospects in the deal. Oh, and he’s going to cost a team $500M+ to re-sign next year, so there’s that to consider as well.
The MLB trade deadline hits on August 1st which is still plenty of time to get a deal done, but is it really something that will happen? Let’s explore some of the top destinations Ohtani is most likely to land should a deal actually get done.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have the cash, the assets, and the know-how to get big name players to their market. Shohei wants to win championships, and joining a team like the Dodgers enters him into the stratosphere of teams that can get it done this year.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants have been on a postseason hiatus for the past couple of years, and that’s not something their front office is happy about. They have two top-20 prospects to ship to LA ready at the helm, but it would take a lot of current talent for future winnings if SF decided to take this route.
Texas Rangers
The Rangers are one of the hottest teams in baseball after coming out and shocking the MLB through the first half of the season. They certainly have the prospects to make a deal with the Angels, but it would take a lot for the Angels to want to ship him off to a division rival.
New York Yankees
It’s the Yankees…they don’t have all the assets from the farm system that the Angels want, but boy do they have the cash to spend. It’s being talked about that the Yanks will be among the most aggressive teams in pursuit of Ohtani, and honestly, it makes sense given the long history of the Yankees’ spending habits.

DJ Khaled has recently taken up the game of golf, so who better to learn from than pro golf teacher turned superstar, Michael Block. It also just so happens that the two shared a special moment out on the course after yet another great shot by Mr. Block.

If you’re a DIII university, you can pretty much get away with anything, and here’s exhibit A.
SUNY Morrisville installed black turf for its upcoming football season, and even though they’re in New York, we just hope the players down there can stay cool.
💰 Mr. Cover’s Football Corner
Life lessons are all something we learn throughout the course of our time here, and Mr. Covers is here to share some of his lessons today.
🏦 Lesson 1: Bankroll Management
In my first year of gambling, I have learned that the single most important rule is bankroll management.
I was told this by an acquaintance of mine, who was formerly a gambler, had to stop because of this very reason. You hear it and it makes sense, but it’s a very different thing when you meet this issue head on.
The first part to managing this is not worrying about what your unit size is. It does not matter if it’s $1, $10, $100 or beyond. It’s all about YOUR gambling capabilities and prolonging your ability to gamble in the ways that best suit you.
Pro tip: don’t try and go “all in” with what you have allotted. I got very lucky. The first time I shoved, I won out and didn’t have to pay my losses. That was also the last time I shoved and won. Stick to your units, and take the smaller loss because odds are, it’s not worth it.
Manage yourself for yourself, you’ll be thankful for it in the long run.
🥊 Quick Hits
The MLB touched a record that hadn’t seen the light of day since 1894 with 12 teams finishing the night in the double-digits.
Netflix sports docuseries ‘Quarterback’ has been its top-ranked show for days and will be renewed for another season.
The Cincinnati Reds have all the good rooks.
Apparently, Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson is primed to have a big year after feeling ‘disrespected’.
