Main Character: Grizzlies

The rise of intensity in the NBA Playoffs has been noticeable so far, and last night was no different. With Ja Morant on the bench recovering from an injury he suffered in Game 1, its was Tillman, Jackson, and the newest mean man in town, Dillion Brooks, who carried the Grizzlies to their first W of the series.

Lebron James did his best to save the Lakers from falling, but his 28/3/12 night wasn't enough on the night. Rui Hachimura has really stepped up the past couple of games as he had 20/2/5 but him and James were the only Lakers to score 20 points or more, and the team only scored 93 in total.

Speaking of Lebron, Dillon Brooks, the newest player you love to hate, has solidified himself as a great role player and the Grizzlies' version of Draymond Green. Brooks had this to say after the game about NBA legend, top two, not two GOAT, and first ballot HOF'er, Lebron James:

What a line. Calling out Lebron hasn't really worked in the past, but we'll see if this time the Grizzlies can get by after Brooks' comments. There is a chance Morant comes back for Game 3, but a with a less than 100% Morant, the Grizzlies will have to perform like they did last night for three more games if they went to move on in these NBA Playoffs.

Max Scherzer was tossed from yesterday's game after umpires found a 'sticky substance' in his glove in the 4th inning. The pitcher claimed to have used the legal substance, rosin, but after multiple encounters with the umps in the second, third, and fourth inning (including a glove change) Scherzer was ejected after being fed up with the inspections.

And what was Scherzer's response postgame? "I swear on my kids' life that I'm not using anything else. This is sweat and rosin, sweat and rosin." The 38 year-old decorated pitcher has an argument. He complied with each statement the umpires asked of him, and even cleaned his hands with alcohol in front of the officiating crew after the second inning.

Crew chief Dan Bellino said in his postgame interview, "As far as stickiness, this was the stickiest it had been since I've been inspecting hands, which goes back three seasons." Now that's a sentence you won't hear every day. Scherzer, if he is in fact deemed to have violated the rule on sticky substances, faces a 10-game suspension. The suspension could be appealed, and likely will be, so you know this is not the last time you will hear about Scherzer and his sticky hands.

You may not have heard, but Damar Hamlin has been medically cleared by all of his doctors to make a return to the NFL, and per this post, Hamlin will return to the field as soon as this season. Even if he didn't ever play another snap, it would still be incredible the recovery he's made. This is just icing on the cake.

Wednesday's Results

✅ Grizzlies +1 vs. Lakers

✅ Stars -150 vs. Wild

About last night...

The Stars looked absolutely incredible last night. The energy in the arena was amazing. And how about that Stars offense...my goodness. I had a feeling the Grizzlies would take care of business. A two seed at home against Austin “i’m him” Reeves?? Cash it baby! We'll take 2-0 every day.

🏀 NBA: Clippers vs. Suns U 226.5

I’m mad that I just figured out the Clippers home unders have been printing money all year, going 27-14. I really like this number as these two teams have barely sniffed this in their matchups this year going 4-2 on this exact number. System play here, nothing more.

🏒 NHL: Avalanche ML -225 + O 6 vs. Kraken

I’m breaking my own rule of not betting on anything over -200, but this number should be closer to -250 according to my internal metrics. So far, there has been a trend of high seeded teams losing Game 1 at home and then winning Game 2. I think this game will go very similarly to the Stars/Wild Game 2, and I expect the Avs will have a flurry of goals. Avalanche win 5-2, book it.

As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

It's going to be a while until we see Tiger compete in anything. Woods announced yesterday that he underwent what was essentially an ankle surgery to further repair a previous fracture. Just goes to show that we need to enjoy every second of golf we get from this guy, because it's imminent we see him hang it up, and maybe sooner than we think.

☝️ Snagged's Top Play ☝️

It's not every day that you see two of MLB's biggest stars getting to face each other 1v1, but this time Judge got the best of Ohtani. Judge later capped off the first inning with a home run that actually went over the fence. Advantage Judge.
