Welcome back to another edition of Snagged Sports, where we ✨snag✨ all of the best stories in sports and serve them up on a screen near you. In today's edition, the Knicks may be back, NFL owners are not happy, and some hot college basketball takes on a Tuesday morning. Let's get into it.

Main Character: Knicks Basketball πŸ—½

Much like Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees fans, the hype around the Knicks every year can reach a fever pitch in an instant once the team starts winning. Now, this team hasn't won much of anything in a while, but this team might be destined for a post-season run if they keep up the style of play from last night's game against the best team in the East - Boston Celtics.

Ballin' Out

USA Today Sports

As they say, defense wins championships, and allowing 91 points in game in today's NBA is as rare as can be. The Knicks locked down the Celt's offense all night as the team went 9-42 from three point land and only allowed 14 free throw attempts.

As for the offense, it wasn't their best night, but Jalen Brunson did his thing and got to the free throw line, Immanuel Quickley was an efficient 4-7 from three with 23 points, and '22 All-Star Julius Randle continued to make his presence known with a solid 23-4-7 stat line.

There was nothing too flashy about this win, and that is exactly why Knicks fans should be excited. They didn't need to play their best game to beat a high caliber team; they played their style of ball, and it was good enough for a W.

The Ejection

Jayson Tatum was ejected for the first time in his career last night with just over 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The game was pretty much been decided, and gave Tatum an opportunity to vent his frustrations with the officiating on the night.

In his postgame press conference, Tatum sarcastically remarked that it was the "best officiated game" he had been a part of. The Boston star has been in an offensive slump recently, and especially last night going just 1-9 from behind the arc and finishing with a measly 14 points. Not something you want to see from a player who many say is poised to make noise in the MVP race late in the season...

Could this be a future matchup we see down the line in late May? Only time will tell, but I'm here to say the Knicks are officially back, and the Big Apple may finally have reason to get excited in a big way.

It remains to be seen what exactly is going to happen regarding the Washington Commanders ownership. Long-time owner, Dan Snyder, has been in the press for a while now with rumors of selling the team. Snyder however may want to keep the team, much to the dismay of other owners around the league.

This is someone who has been accused of various mischievous acts (to put it lightly), and is not someone the NFL owners want to keep around. If it comes to it, a majority vote for Snyder to abandon the team could be an option, but not one anyone truly prefers.

Jeff Bezos, Byron Allen, and Josh Harris have all been rumored to be interested in the purchase of the team, but when you're dealing with a man who will supposedly do anything to keep his job and who's willing to leave a wake of destruction in his path, said sale could get ugly, and fast. At least we'll have a front row seat to all the drama that is sure to ensue in the very near future.

What happens when a charity toy drive meets a soccer match? Take a look for yourself.

Hundreds upon hundreds of stuffed toys rained down on the pitch, and to call this wholesome is an understatement.

Monday's Results:

❌ Blackhawks ML +115 vs. Ducks

❌ Celtics ML -135 vs. Knicks

About last night...

I don't mean to give excuses, but I give out 2 of my 12-20 picks a night to Snagged Sports. How am I to know which ones will be right? But it's time to face the music - both plays last night were just straight up wrong. No ifs ands or buts about it, but mark my words, I will not have another 0-2 night this week. Count on it!

πŸ’ NHL: Arizona -170 vs. Chicago

It is currently 11 PM CST, and the Blackhawks still have over 10 minutes left in the third period against the Ducks. They will then have to get on a flight to Arizona to face the Coyotes later today. I’m a firm believer in travel affecting teams on back to backs, so give me the Coyotes in this one (I now also have a personal vendetta against the Blackhawks for the rest of my life because of last night's loss).

πŸ’ NHL: Minnesota vs. NY Islanders U 5.5

I always feel icky betting an under, but these teams each have a top 10 defense in the NHL. Both have a stellar defense with solid goaltenders. A perfect storm for the under. Under under under!

As per usual, do what you must with this valuable information.

🐣 Tweet of the Day 🐣

The one-year experiment can be officially deemed a failure. The Commanders made it official, and released QB Carson Wentz to avoid a $23M cap hit. They will move on to second year quarterback Sam Howell, or who knows, maybe an up-and-comer in this year's draft. The possibilities are endless when it comes to this franchise.

πŸ”₯ Hot Takes Tuesday πŸ”₯

Welcome back to Hot Takes Tuesday, where I get to have a hot take, and you get to read about it! As we know, March Madness is so close we can smell it, so it feels like the right time to get my takes out there before I can be referred to in later installments as either a 'major loser' or a 'genius'. Hopefully it will be the latter.

πŸ— Arkansas makes a deep run. Before you say anything, yes this is my alma mater, but this has nothing to do with this take (probably). The Razorbacks have dealt with injuries all year long with NBA prospects such as Nick Smith Jr. sitting for a majority of conference play. This team has blown 5 leads when up 10 in the second half which shows the lack of a true leader to will this team to victory. With all Razorbacks healthy, and their eventual new-found ability to close out games with fiery Eric Musselman's coaching style, this team will be a tough out.

4️⃣ Saint Mary's: Final Four team. Never mind the fact that they play in the same conference as Gonzaga, this team has the components to make a Cinderella-like run to college basketball's promise land. They have a team full of 3-point shooters, allow just 59.3 points per game, and play a complementary style of offense with no true star. There isn't that one team that's favored to win it all in this year's tournament, so why can't a team like the Gael's show up and show out?

These are takes that are based on opinion, but they might as well be factual. Look out for future editions where I gloat about how right I was (hopefully).
