A Koep-tacular Performance, Mr. Covers is also back, and much more!

After a bit of a hiatus, Snagged Sports is back, and it's here to stay. I'll leave out all the details on why we stopped and what happened to our daily sends, it's boring and no one really cares. So, with that being said, we are here to stay, permanently.

Strap in everyone, because with your help (and our consistency), we are going to take Snagged Sports all the way to the damn moon. Without further adieu....

Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

⛳️ A Koep-tacular Performance

💰 Mr. Covers is also BACK

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

via @Sportsnet

For the fifth time in his career, Brooks Koepka is a major championship winner. Other pro golfers with at least five major wins? Seve Ballesteros, Byron Nelson, Lee Trevino and Nick Faldo. That's some serious company.

He did so by picking apart the golf course, with his most impressive round coming on a downpour of a Saturday afternoon. Where everyone struggled, Brooks stepped up and fired off a four under-par 66 to eventually secure him the victory. Many are asking, does this make Koepka an all-time great, and if you take a step back and look at his resume at a distance, the argument is there to say "yes". For now, I'm sure he will join in on some celebration activities, because what else are you supposed to do after winning a major championship?

If you haven't heard of PGA professional Michael Block by this point, where have you been?! Koepka won the tournament, but if there were consolation prizes, Block would be the first winner. This weekend he:

  • Finished in the top-15 and earned automatic exemption to next year's PGA Championship

  • Earned roughly $300,000 for his efforts throughout his four rounds

  • Played with the likes of Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy on Saturday and Sunday

  • Dunked a hole-in-one from 164 yards to provide the shot of the day, and certainly of his life.

It's a ride of a lifetime that I'm sure all golfers dream of, and in four days, Block made a fan out of every single sports fan in America. Oh, and he's not going away anytime soon! He earned invites to both the Charles Schwab Challenge and RBC Canadien Open in the coming days and weeks. The ride continues, and we will all certainly be watching.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

The Miami Heat, the team that was one loss away to not even making the postseason, is now one game away from a trip to the NBA Finals. The storybook run has many characters to include, and in the ECF Game 3 chapter, the focus was on role players Gabe Vincent and Duncan Robinson. They put up a combined 51 points on 11-16 shooting from three-point land.

As Shaq said in TNT's post-game show "the Heat were shooting on rims as big as the ocean."

💰 Mr. Cover's Corner

About Last (Fort)night:

During our hiatus, I learned that No/Yes Runs First Inning is one of my favorite bets ever. It is a quick bet that is super fun IMO. I am excited to get back into the mix of things.

🏀 NBA: Nuggets 1Q +1 vs. Lakers

Nuggets have won two of the first three first quarters this series, and tied the other. Play the number and trust the better team here. Not sure how this game will pan out, but I am confident this first quarter will belong to the Nuggets.

⚾️ MLB: Dodgers vs. Braves O 9.5 runs

These teams are both a top 5 team for the over so far this year, combining for 52-38 for overs, including a combined 7-3 in their each team's last 5 games. Not to mention, there will be two pitchers who can give up plenty of runs; give me the over here.

⚾️ MLB: Rangers ML -140 vs. Pirates

The Rangers have started off ultra-super hot this year, and are just as effective on the road as they are at home. Dane Dunning is 4-0 this year with a 1.69 ERA this season with the Rangers. I love the Rangers in this spot. Bail out with Rangers F5 if needed, but I think they win early and often.
