Main Character: Playoffs
It's playoff time in two of the big four leagues which means for us, all eyes are on the meaningful games for the foreseeable future.
NBA
No offense to the Nets, but if Cam Johnson is your leading scorer, there isn't much of a chance to win a playoff game. In a defensive battle, the 76ers pulled out the sub-100 point win at home with Tyrese Maxey leading all scorers with 33 points. Harden had an off night, only shooting 3-13 from the floor, but he chose the right time to not be on his A-game. The 76ers and Nets head to BKN for Game 3 later this week with the Philly up 2-0 in the series.
Now, no offense to the 76ers/Nets series, but the real action of the night was in Sac-town for what is turning out to be THE series to watch in the NBA Playoffs. It was a back-and-forth game until the fourth quarter when Draymond Green decided to do Draymond Green things and got ejected after a flagrant two foul by stomping on Kings' star forward Domantis Sabonis.
Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis get twisted up.
Green was issued a flagrant 2 (ejected) and Sabonis was issued a technical.

Call me crazy, but the Kings seemed more locked in and focused on beating the Warriors after the foul and subsequent shoving, and that's exactly what they did. De'Aaron Fox and Sabonis each put up 24 points with Malik Monk coming off the bench adding 18 to give the Kings a 114-106 win, and more importantly, 2-0 series lead. It's the first time in the Curry era that the Warriors face a 2-0 deficit. The teams now head just a couple minutes away to the Chase Center to see if the Warriors can even the series up, or if Sacramento will light the beam from San Fran.
NHL
The NHL dropped the puck on the playoffs last night as we saw four series take to the ice. Two of which saw overtime action, and what's playoff hockey without a little bit of extra time?
The two overtime "underdogs" took game one of the series. The Stars fell in a brutal home-opening loss as the Wild scored a dribbler in double OT to take the 1-0 series lead while the Kings scored 3 in the third period on the Oilers to force OT and won on a power play goal to take their own series lead.
The Bruins, with the weight of high expectations, got their first win out of the way in a convincing 3-1 victory over the Panthers. It was the same story for the Hurricanes as one of the best home teams in hockey secured a win over the Islanders to take Game 1 in a close 2-1 win.
The playoffs are here, and again I say, what more can you ask for?

Jalen Hurts, the former second round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft just became the highest paid player in NFL history. This might become a common thing in the coming months leading up to the season, but Hurts got his money.
Eagles and Jalen Hurts reached agreement on a five-year, $255 million extension, including $179.304 million guaranteed, per source.
Hurts becomes the highest-paid player in NFL history in a deal negotiated by Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports Group and Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman.

The 5-year, $255 million dollar extension includes over $173 million in guaranteed money the Eagles will have to shell out. Not too bad for a Super Bowl runner-up!

🏒 NHL: Golden Knights -150 vs. Winnipeg
I am typing this at night and my guess is by the morning when this is released the line will be closer to -165. This one is another simple pick to me. The Knights are far and above a better team, and they showed that by winning all three regular season matchups this year. Don’t overthink it.
🏒 NHL: Seattle vs. Colorado U 6
Per my last pick, don’t overthink it. These teams went under this number in all four matchups this year and are a combined 88-73-1 on the under this year. Play the number, trust the number.
🏀 NBA: Knicks 1H +3 vs. Cleveland + Knicks +5.5
I took a sabbatical from betting the Knicks first half as I think I kept beating a dead horse. The Knicks won outright in Game 1 and covered the 1H spread as well. I may be the most anti-Donovan Mitchell person in the world, but the Knicks have covered or won in all but one game against the Cavs this year. It feels good to be back on MY KNICKS.
As per usual, do you what you must with this valuable information.

Over the weekend, Matthew Fitzpatrick bested Jordan Spieth in a four-hole playoff at the RBC Heritage. The winning shot (you guessed it) a 9 iron placed to a foot from the hole. Celebrate Fitz, you earned it.
