27 Up 27 Down

Perfection, Presser Shenanigans, and much more!

Good morning everyone! Here's what news we ✨snagged✨ for you around the sports world today:

🗽 Perfection

⛳️ Presser Shenanigans

🚀 ...and much more! Let's get into it.

👑 Main Character

Last night, the baseball world was able to witness history after Yankees’ pitcher Domingo German threw the MLB’s 24th perfect game in its long, long history. It was the first such game since it happened last in 2012.

German has had quite the average season up until this point. He has a 4.54 ERA and a .500 record so far this season, so to say no one saw this coming is a very factual statement. The game was more than in-hand with the Yankees up 11-0 entering in the ninth inning, but with that much pressure on a guy to not only complete the game, but have a chance to get into the record books, is something to admire. It was the first time a Yankee threw a perfect game since David Cone did it in 1999.

Now, if we’re being honest, does it really count if it was against the Oakland A’s, one of the worst teams and baseball? The person writing this right now would have a decent chance to get 27 up and 27 down on this A’s team, but nonetheless, I guess you can say that it is quite the impressive feat.

After the game, German dedicated this game to his late uncle who just passed away this Monday; what a special moment for him all around. The Yankees might not be the most beloved team in baseball, but this is definitely a story we can all get behind.

🥺 Wholesome Content

Golf pressers aren’t usually the place you go to source the highest form of content, but this interaction between PGA pros Max Homa and Justin Thomas isn’t something you see on the tour every day.

🐣 Tweet of the Day

The future of hockey has arrived. The NHL’s version of Victor Wembanyama was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks during last night’s draft. It might not look it, but this kid, Connor Bedard, has many thinking that he could be one of the greats after all is said and done.

About last night…

Mr. Editor will retire as one of the greatest to ever do it on Snagged Sports. He batted 1.000 as he covered for me in my time off, and I couldn’t be more proud. In the future, if you need a winner, you know who to email.

⚾️ MLB: Rangers -1.5 vs. Detroit

I am returning to Dallas, so this is in honor of my return. I also think the Rangers win this one big time, so don’t be afraid to sprinkle a little on the Rangers’ alt line -2.5 at plus money!

⚾️ MLB: White Sox vs. Angels O 9 runs / Angels -130

The LA Angels put up 25 runs against the Rockies, and since then, have gone on to score a combined 15 runs in their last four games. I like the positive regression I’m seeing. Look for the Angels to put plenty of runs on the board in this one.
